Not so much his comicbook work, but covers count (my list, my rules). Of course I'm more a fan of his paintings. But how can you not be.
Was never really into horror comics, but would pick up anything and everything this guy drew. Of course my favorite thing he did was his b/w illustrations for Frankenstein.
This man is definitely responsible for the evolution of comic books, mainly in the way panels look and work. He made the comic move like an action movie and made even a basic, simple story, exciting and fast paced.
Kirby is here by default as most of the comics I collect started off with this guy drawing them. But because he helped shape the way some of my favorite characters looked, he gains a spot here.
He also ends up on this list almost by default, as my introduction to him was the Conan comics. Thing is, I bought the Conan comics not caring who drew it. His art was just further justification. Not to mention
There was a time that when this guy drew an issue to a comic is what the equivilant of a guest appearance of the hottest hero or villain at the time.
This guy helped define the look of Batman, what more do you want from an artist. Ok, fine, he also helped reastablished the dark, brooding Batman you all know and love today.
