Was never really into the X-Men until I read Amazing Spider-Man 229 and Juggernaut became my one of my favorite villains. Of course, Juggy being an X-Men villain I had to get every X-Men issue with Juggernaut in it. Started by getting Uncanny X-Men 102 and 103, which just happened to be at the start of the Pheonix saga and got hooked on X-Men.

The Elders of the Universe are more than just the surviving members of thier race, they also had the advantage of being members of the first sentient races after the big bang. In combination with the fact that it is thier obsessions that 'power' thier immortaility. If they lose that, they lose there immortality.

I think you had to be the last of your race when the universe was still young and be part of an advanced civilization to boot  to qualify as an Elder.

@G-Man:

Plus I was obviously already over my time limit. Here's a shot that didn't make it into the video.

Maybe it should be called "3 Minute (or however long it takes to fully encapsulate the history of charachters, some of which have over 25 years of comicbook history) Expert"

Nah, your title has a better ring to it.

I wasn't a fan of Demogoblin and always thought Macendale was a chump

And Donovan wasn't?

Hmmm, no mention of Macendales deal with N'astirh and his transformation (Spectacular Spider-Man 147), or how it created Demogoblin (Web of Spider-man 86)? Tsk, tsk.

Just nitpicking. Seriously though, nice video

@Fantasgasmic:

To me, that whole "tribalist," "us vs them" argument falls apart when you realize it's REALLY hard to get a large group of people with a few minor commonalities to agree on anything

.

Sure, but all you need is a really good leader, be it 70'ish years ago, or some guy named Magneto.

I believe the mutant hate and fear was that most heroes and villains got thier powers thru accidents, serums, magic, technology, are aliens, robots, gods, etc.... The idea of a normal person getting these amazing powers by way of those listed were rare, if not unique.

But with the X-gene, now anyone could have powers, including would be villains. There was a time that it was stated that 1 in 3 people could be a mutant (not sure of the 1 in 3, but something along those lines). The idea being that mutants was the next evolution of man, Ordinary people were afraid of being taken over by them and mutants had to be stopped or at least controlled.

It wasn't so much that some guy who change his skin color was the threat, but that if all mutants joined together, how could ordinary people stop them.

As for Spider-Man being a mutant, I always considered him an enhanced human. He's stronger, faster, more agile than average. His spider-sense could be considered some psychic ability triggered thru the radioactive spider (since spiders don't even have spider-sense) and his webbing is man-made. Hell, replace the webs with a shield and you got a Captain America.

Sponsorship deals, no prob. I'm sure Lex Luthor would be more than glad to have some heroes on his payroll. Imagine heroes sponsered by A.I.M., COBRA or HYDRA, though never knowing it , as it would most likely be through dummy corporations.

The only people I could see willing to sponsor heroes would be those people who would benefit in the control they would have over the heroes.

I'm actually referring to price guides and every listing of the 2 characters appearances, be it Comicvine, Wikipedia, even Marvel.com seperates issues 180 and 181, whereas Galactus is just listed as first appearance being Fantastic Four 48
