Hive Mind

I understand that the Cuckoos are "sisters" and they can combine their telepathic strength and create a "hive mind" but could the same be done with any two or more telepaths?? i know in the past haven't Jean and the Professor combined their telepathic "might"?

@ReVamp: I think the application of technology in comics is one of the hardest to justify.  It is often treated as a very "real" power as opposed to the more fanciful powers.  That being said without any clear definition of how it works that there is no real way to define its limitations.  A merging of two minds might very well be possible, but I think in terms of the Cuckoos that is more the unique aspect of their powers.

I would think that while joined they would be more intelligent, and capable of high displays of intellect due to the sum of brains/cells at combined work. In the real world, species of ants are in fact hive minded and display this exact property, and being the more of them there are, the more intelligent their collective mind becomes and displays itself. But, true natures of hive mind are rarely displayed in comics, in the Cuckoo's as well, so I would be hard pressed to answer your question with anything other potentially and if writers actually utilized the hive mind aspect in the first place other than as a telephone system and to give the characters an " increased Fusion style blast move "?

Just another one of Marvel's inconsistencies. The loss of two of their sisters substantially lowered this "Hive" power of theirs, although - it would have been amazing to see how much power those thousand clones found in the "World" would have had. And this "Hive" ability is greatly influenced by proximity and was proven to be used even against their will if one of them so chose.

They were also able to assist Emma through their abilities and Cerebro, combining powers so to speak, but I would like to see this addressed as well. I remember Xavier and Jean combining their powers as well in the past and it definitely is a very powerful option for battle.

@CATPANEXE: right exactly, X-Men/Marvel should put out books explaining certain things, u kno like make believe science that is displayed in the comics, Star Wars and Star Trek have books like that explaining their "science"

as for telepathy, I've seen it in different realms of sci-fi but in X-Men there seems to be an array of different things/abilities that come with being a telepath aside from reading minds

@StormyWeather: And/or more focus on characters, like the Cuckoo's for example who seem to be less characters now and more novelty background props, more reasoning why there is no real focus on anything about them.
