@Korg:
You're just sexist. Even if he is a singer, he can learn to act, and he has the right attitude for the role!  CBM just broke the story! Try to stay up to date, man!

"I think if they make a movie about Obama they should get John Mayer to play him. That dude is blowing up. "
I think America is ready for that. I mean, it would be powerful, right? "
It would be epic. They could have a montage with, "Your body is a Wonder Land" playing in the background. "

Better still, how about Beyonce as Obama? I mean, you're sexist if you don't agree. It's all about having the right vibe for the character, the gender isn't what's important.

What about Mayer as Wonder Woman, while we're at it? A montage set to "Your Body is a Wonder Land" as he puts on the costume.

And there will be another 50 or so comments of people who can't read treating it like it's true and completely ignoring your post, too. I thought people who read comic books actually....you know.....read.

Too much fun to get worked up over to ignore, I guess.

"Wow. Here come the racist comic fans.    "

First of all, I'm sad to see that I was right about eight posts up from the one I type right now.

With that said, let's call a double standard a double standard: if fans won't embrace a white character being played by a woman of color (WHICH SHE ISN'T: THE STORY'S A FAKE!), then it's racist. But if we were told tommorrow that Triple H from the WWE is playing Luke Cage in a movie, it'd be racist to cast a white man as a black character. You just can't have it both ways.

Why are people still responding as if this is true? It was confirmed bogus quite a while ago and it's been stated repeatedly in this thread.

I don't think dubious Hollywood casting is our biggest concern here.  Seeing a headline and looking at the pictures of the pretty lady is nice, but try to get through all of those boring words that, when put together in just the right combinations, create ideas and convey information.

Then you'll see that it's all a big deal over nothing.

....who am I kidding? No one will read this.

"WTF? I'm not even a Wonder Women fan and this offends me. "
Offended? What's to get offended for? I hope you don't say because she is black. Then I'll get offended. "
I think the offense has to do with not staying true to the character (ethnicity included) any other ethnicity would get the same response.  I am sure that the black community of comic fans would be offended if spawn, luke cage, or black panther were given silver screen treatment only to be portrayed by an actor that was not black.  "

Seriously, this is valid. If you turned the tables and cast white actors to play black characters, there would be an uproar. They've done this with Kingpin, Catwoman, Nick Fury (although "Ultimates" started that one), and enough is enough.  I think Beyonce is beautiful and she's a talented singer, but she isn't a fit for Wonder Woman. Bottom line. Period.

Hey, I want to see the WWE wrestler Batista to play Luke Cage.  I think Johnny Depp would make a good Bishop in the next X-Men movie, too. Hey, if you don't like it don't tell me it's because he's white, because then I'll be offended. (see the absurdity now?)

Anyway, this is nothing but a rumor from a site where someone seems to be pulling it out of their backside. I have searched the internet and seen NOTHING about this anywhere else. If it was true it would be a story somewhere else.

The second one from the left is my favorite for the character. The fourth one over is "hotter", and is probably a close second in my voting,  but when I think of Supergirl I want something a little more wholesome.

" I'm not mad because I didn't think of selling poorly drawn characters for oodles of money before Rob did. I'm mad because people paid him oodles of money to draw characters poorly.  Ideally, the best comic book artists and writers should be employed at marvel, dc and all the other smaller companies.  It always annoys me when they employ sub par talent when I know there are hundreds of people out there who wish they could make comics professionally.  It annoys me more when the hacks develop a fan base and get rich off shitty work. "

Yes, and ideally the best actors will get the best roles in Hollywood, but Megan Fox is still getting work. Rob Liefled is the comic book equivilant of Megan Fox: he's popular but no one likes him. He gets showered with money and steady work, but everyone thinks he sucks. Then who's buying this stuff? Maybe not "everyone" is so down on ol' Rob.

In the end, the blame (if you want to call it that) lays with the fans. If no one made a big deal about Megan Fox (who, in my estimation, looks and acts like she may be an android of some type) or if no one bought Rob Liefeld books, they would go away. But people still support them, and in large numbers, too. Would anyone turn down being showered with adoration and money because someone deemed them "not worthy"? No, I don't reckon most people would. Simply, there is a market for this stuff and at one time it was actually a HUGE market. I almost never see supporters of his work though. So, unless he's buying 30,000 copies of everything he does, there's a pretty big silent fanbase out there somewhere.

My personal opinions aside (and again, I'm not really a supporter but his contributions can't be denied), unless he has some mutant power of persuasion over comic book editors, they are hiring him for a reason. That reason is because his name can still sell a book. Don't ask me why, but it's true and that's pretty much the reality of it.

" Robert Bruce Banner is his name and he goes by Bruce.  His father's name is Brian.  The TV series is where he was called David.  I don't know why they changed his name other than maybe some stupid liscensing law.  "Sure, we'll sell you rights for the Hulk, but if you want to call him Bruce that costs extra." "
The long-standing rumor for years was that the studio decided to change the name from Bruce to David because Bruce was considered a "homosexual name". It was a different era, granted, but I don't really think that was the reason. Perhaps it was because Bruce also happens to be the first name of Batman, and they wanted to distance themselves from that. Or, it could be that television and movie studios just have to change SOMETHING about every comic property they touch so they can look "creative" when they're really not.

I'm sure the real answer is out there somewhere, but I'm too unmotivated to look it up right now.
