@TheDrifter: I was under the impression that homo sapians used them to correct chemical imbalances in the brain. Why is that maleficent?

@TheDrifter: Up is a relative term, created to describe the effects of gravity.

It was over. Molten pools of metal bubbled at Starheart's feet. Soon they would be cool and dim, and the memory of Starheart's foe would be gone forever. "Data sending: Slypherian mutant annihilated, preparing to continue research-" Starheart stopped its transmission, seeing movement. It spun around, leaving a trail of dazzling light. "Hey Starheart I have a gift for you" A yawning abyss, held in the Slypherian's palm. Small tendrils dug into Starheart's armor, preventing the removal of the portal device. "  Nothing can survive the tremendous gravitational force of the black hole, not even a star, or should I say a herald of a star. Isn't that right Starheart " Starheart said nothing yet, just looked at Michael with an expression that might be considered mournful. Then it vanished.

There was a great roaring in the fabric of the universe. A whirlpool of darkness, flecked with colors that should not exist in this universe. A 'pop' and a bright figure appeared at the center of this place of death. "F-final t-transi-ztt-, entry code -ztz- black hole" Starheart was beginning to disintegrate. The armor was dissolving into a stream of light vanishing into the core of the space/time anomaly. "P-pressure c-c-c-crippling. Instruments d-destroy-ztt-. Setting up -brzzt- observational channel" The armor was gone, and only Starheart's energy form remained. It fought with all its might, but the vast gravitational pull was too much. "Critical damage. Entity terminating" Cracks of light formed, and Starheart exploded. Not even the glory of a star's nova was afforded it, for the all consuming black hole fed greedily on the remains.

Star Sirius B

The connection had been terminated. The greatest Starheart of them all had been destroyed by a lowly Slypherian. Only the gathering of data on the Milky Way black hole was any consolation. Sirius B flared angrily, sunspots blemishing its flaming surface. Already within the depths of the star, a new Starheart was forming. It too would go to Earth. It would analyze the Slypherian's weaknesses and take revenge for its fallen sibling.

A hand of light reached out of the star. Starheart reborn.

The terrible shrieking stopped. Starheart dimmed slightly, relaxing. It looked around. The Slypherian was gone. Only shadows remained, scorched into the landscape. They seemed to be moving, but that was probably because of the immense gravity well in the area.

That foolish being. Did it really think to kill a star? Starheart was a god to many, and it had no qualms against murdering a few that stood in the way. Starheart's self-glorifying train of through ended when it noticed some major changes in the shadow around it. Weapons, propelled by pure darkness. Fascinating. The Slypherian must not be dead after all. Or maybe it was among those races, or had a mutation, that had some kind of post-mortum control. Either way, this posed very little threat. Most mortal weapons, such as these, simply melted when they touched Starheart.

Before long, Starheart was surrounded by a pool of liquid metal, bubbling and reaching evaporation point. Everything was still. Whatever remained of the Slypherian must have passed on to the world beyond.
