JLU actually continued on in the comic of the same name. It basically started off where the last season ended, and even used unused episodes for arcs. Worth a read if you were a huge fan of the show.

they shouldn't have cancelled it for one, and it should have featured more characters. i mean what the hell, it was replaced by batman the brave and the bold, and justice league was a hell of a lot better
