I liked this story arc ok, but I really loved the quality of the art. JLD is one of the few of the New 52 that has consistent good quality art since the beginning.
Love this series since issue one. With the 2 art styles switch around, both feel young, fresh, strong and full of energy. The dialogs also give each student his/her defined character, very strong writing. You won't mistaken one character from another. I think it is very hard to introduce bunch of new characters in an old series, and I like them all. Comparing to Wolverine and X-men, The Uncanny X-men is a little stale.
Btw, where was that Bamf and Beast storyline from? Must be another X-men line. I missed it.
Ok, Batwoman was one of my favorite The New 52 when it came out. In 3 issues, it dropped from the top all the way to the very bottom. It is no longer on my subscription list.
I have more problem with the art style than the story-telling. From issue 1-5, every spread is an art. They kept my eyes moving up and down the pages. The art style fits the dark storyline and the mystical villains very well. Batwoman was dark, gruesome and beautiful. However, issue 6 and after, the art style just fell flat, flat like dropped down from skyscraper flat. The characters have no dimension. The page layouts are crude. The mythical villains are not magical any more, even laughable. I am very disappointed. #8 is my last issue of Batwoman.
