I also doubt it's a coincidence that DC praises artists after Marvel essentially insults them.
They certainly put an emphasis.
But a line like this takes time to create and if you look at the talent, DC had already planned this as a artist centric line to begin with. The writing talent is nowhere near the artistic talent in the line ups.
Hm. Kind of getting a 90s vibe from this. Still, it's good to see DC try something new that doesn't involve desecrating classic characters. There might be some good fines in this.
All these artists are pretty much 90s stock. So it explains the influence.
I am absolutely LOVING this series and need this annual now! I have never been as excited to read a Superman title than I am to read a Batman title but Tomasi and Gleason have won me over. And I continue to be in awe over how good Jorge Jimenez is... what titles was he previously working on before this and Earth 2: Society?
I'm a Marvel guy that lost interest after Secret Wars. I read the preview above and I really liked it, should I read the New 52 Superman stuff as a run-up to this (five issues isnt enough for me to get hooked), or does Rebirth get rid of all that stuff before?
You can perfectly start reading with Rebirth. While Rebirth doesn't undo the New 52, the New 52 stuff aren't that good. The only worthy run is Grant Morrison's Action Comics.
I would advice you to read the Superman Rebirth special and then the current Superman run.
