It is nice to finally be off of the road and be able to focus on the finer things in life, such as comics and art.

I have a Residency coming up and I am preparing my next piece so that it will be ready to cast when I get out to Portland, OR.

For those who may wonder what it is I am talking about I am a glass artist who has just finished his undergrad at the Rochester Institute of Technology. My work focus's on the comparison of two different time periods and how those two societies portrayed and idolized their heroes.

I use classical sculpture from the Greco Roman time period and compare it to the contemporary hero of today. The classical sculpture during this time period always portrayed a god or hero from Greek and/or Roman mythos which society would aspire be. I take the story behind the classical hero/god, and based off of the theories of Joeseph Campbell, I choose a hero of today whose key character traits and/or story is similar to thpse of the classical hero.

This helps support Campbell's theory that every story of a hero is the same story just retold in an infinite amount of ways. It also brings a scrutinizing eye over the pop culture behind the super hero and helps address the fact that every society needs a hero to aspire to.

I am excited to be able to continoe this body of work..I feel as though I have been gone for to long and I have a duty to keep on making.
