My god, this issue was such a nostalgia trip. I started reading DC (and comic books in general) during the late 90's so those versions of these characters are the ones I grew up with: Wally West, Kyle Rayner, Connor Hawke, hook and beard Aquaman... even mullet and electric Superman, two versions of the character I can't stop riffing, hold a special place in my nostalgic heart. Having Morrison write Kyle and Wally again, or even seeing characters like Max Mercury, Bloodwynd and Argus again made this issue a real treat for me.
Uh, story. Kind of a no-brainer seeing how comics are meant to be read... and sure, some may argue that without art comics would just be books but at least I'd be left with a worthwhile book whereas pretty art without story is just an art catalog, which can be interesting but not nearly as good as reading a good story.
