First blog entry, here it goes.

From a young age I could be seen running around in Batman/Robin costumes and watching BtAS, a great cartoon and pretty much the source of my love for old batsy. I never knew a great deal about comic books, I preferred watching the cartoons or films and as such I objected myself to the horrors of Adam West and Batman Forever. It wasn't until I was a bit older and by now watching Teen Titans that I even learned that some superheroes belonged to Marvel and some to DC, pretty luckily my favourites all belonged in the DCU and I carried on watching Batman of the future and Justice League.

Flash forward to 2011, I have been out of the superhero circle for awhile now, only watching the DC Animated Films as they come out and playing Arkham Asylum. I wanted to get into comics, really I did, but I just didn't see a starting point. Then I learnt about the New 52 and it just seemed like a great place to pick up some of my favourite characters stories. I grabbed the first issues of Batman (after working out which one was best to buy), Justice League and Nightwing. My thoughts on Batman are high, the story is great and the artwork is perfect, I love how it breaks the convention, destroying our safety blanket of Batman, he doesn't know as much as we think he knows and he isn't invincible. I also enjoyed Nightwing and whilst I thought it was nothing special, it was not bad either, I ham enjoying the current story and can't wait to see what happens next. As for Justice League, I did enjoy the comics and can immediately see the personalities of the characters shining. However I'm not overly fond of this super cocky Superman, I think we should've been able to see Batman best him in battle, he needs knocking off his pedastal. I also don't really like that the first villain is Darkseid, it feels like they have taken an easy route and just thrown in a celebrity villain to get more readers (which is probably working and is logical), however I'd much rather see a new villain!

Well that's it, my ramblings are over! I've ordered some old TPBs of Batman and Nightwing to get my knowledge rolling and hope to expand my interest in comics further than just Gotham City.
