@sammo21: the Shadow artist was Meghan Hetrick. She did an awesome Alucard for me over the weekend and I'm looking forward to commissioning a lot more from her in the future.

You got several good sketches and that Cap vs Cobra Commander is pretty great.

I like doing research on the artists on DeviantArt to see what they normally do for a con sketch. If you're looking to hang up your art, pick up a book of Bristol paper. I ask politely if they could use my paper, so that way when I hang it on the wall, they are all nice and uniform. If you're looking to keep it cheap, artists usually charge less for small sketchbooks or sketch covers. Finally, don't neglect the unnamed/local artists. They tend to be cheaper than the pros, and they won't have as long of a list, so they will usually get more effort put into it. On top of that they are eager for your business, and trying to break even for the space that they paid for to be there. Some of my favorite con sketches I've gotten have been from people that are still trying to get into the business.

First off, forgive the terrible angle.  This page from the Walking Dead is hanging over a cabinet so it was awkward to get a good picture.

This was a Christmas gift from my wife and I wanted it because:

@ARMIV2 I would imagine anything you asked an artist to draw for you would count.

I usually only get sketches of video game characters, which can be harder than it sounds. I often have to bring many references, but the payoff is worth it.

The Ryan Ottley Batman was my first commission, still one of my favorites and I got it before I started doing the game characters.

Khary Randolph is a good guy, great artist and plays his share of games. I wanted to get either Jade or Kitana from Mortal Kombat but left the choice up to him. He chose Jade.

I usually like getting characters doing something ridiculous, and Bayonetta is ridiculous enough on her own, so I figured having her done in Giarrusso's style would be a good compromise.

I'm sure lots of people here have probably commissioned their own art at conventions or have purchased their own comic pages. I don't see any forum specific to this topic, so I figured I'd make one. If there is any interest I can start posting pics of commissions that my friends and I have been getting for the past few years.

In regards to the silver helmet shot, I haven't gone back to read every comment about it...so apologies if someone has said this already.  It looks like its being held by a guy wearing a tuxedo, standing next to a woman wearing white pants, so my best bet is that Sebastian Shaw is presenting that helmet to Erik and working on expanding the rift between him and Charles even more.

I like that they made Shane more sympathetic, and you were just starting to feel sorry for him before he goes and tries to rape Lori.

I didn't care for too much else in this episode.

Also, important safety tip, never go anywhere with T-dog, that dude is always leaving people behind.

For anyone interested in picking up the collections for cheap here's what I usually do.

First off Amazon usually has their hardcovers for ~30% off.  However, since the show was announced the prices of these hardcovers went up from $30 to $35, and right now Amazon is only offering 5% (I think...) for HC 1.  Volumes 2-6 get the discounts though so you can pick one up for $23.  Unfortunately you have to get $25 for the free shipping, so I only really go this route when I'm able to pick up 2 HCs in the same order, shaving around $20 off.  I know the Free Shipping thing is just a scam to get me to buy more, but it works because I'll spend the money anyway, may as well put it to another book that I want.

For those who have a need for instant gratification, Borders rewards programs will email you coupons about twice a week.  These range between 30-40%, but on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I got  50% off coupon.   This route gets you books sometimes cheaper than Amazon and you don't have to worry about shipping or adding.  However you're only limited to what they have in the store unless you want to use the coupon online.  I haven't used their online service so I can't speak on the shipping prices.

I word of warning about the Borders coupons though, after a while they just expect you to be a regular shopper so they stop sending you coupons.  My girlfriend and I signed up at the same time, the difference is I used mine to the point where they stopped sending them so I started using hers.  The system must have noticed I haven't shopped there for a while so about a month later I started receiving them again.

Personally I prefer the hardcovers, I keep up with the monthly comic but I like having a book case full of my hardcover books, which also make them easier for creators to sign at conventions.  The biggest downside I've noticed when I get people to read them is that there isn't the sense of urgency and frustration from having to wait.  Anyone who remembers the release schedule for the "No One is Safe" storyline knows how it was torture to get 22 pages of awesome, followed by a huge one page cliffhanger that made you think about it for the next 4-6 weeks.
