So about event comics.

I don't like them. Ever since I got into comics (around the time Civil War was wrapping up) event comics have happened every year. To this point, there hasn't been a single event that I can say was awesome. Anyways I stumbled across this image on the awesome tumblr that is DC Women Kicking Ass. I think it sums up event comics pretty well.

 I'd read it.
 I'd read it.

Hahaha, awesome pic. I personally like events, but mainly DC ones. I loved all 3 crisis books(Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, and Final Crisis), 52 is a master piece, I really liked Blackest Night and Brightest Day(so far), and Civil War was fun on the Marvel side. Events can be fun, when they are done right but there do seem to be too many now a days.

Blackest Night was just too long. Would've been a lot better at 5 issues. Condense the story some.

My thoughts exactly.

@JediXMan:
I actually read a wide variety of comics. I'm not a fan of THE UNIVERSE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME events. Keep in mind that I got into comics in early 2007. Since that time the events that have happened, haven't been all that great. Were some of them entertaining? Sure, but I don't want or need to have massive crossovers once a year to make me happy. I get it - events sell and they won't go away (at least not until massive event fatigue happens) but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

Another thing, I didn't really get into DC in a major way until after Final Crisis. I read most of Blackest Night being all sorts of confused because beyond a few books - it was my first major foray into DC. I've caught up on a lot of that Green Lantern stuff and I like it. Keep in mind that I was referring to events from the last 3 or 4 years. I didn't mean all events that ever happened, there are good ones too. I really just meant the current batch (last 3-4 years worth) of events. Just because I have a different opinion doesn't mean I have a "narrow scope" of what I enjoy.

Freaking hilarious image. I totally agree, though. It seems everything is part of an event now, where's the business as usual comics? Personally, I tend to stop reading until an event is over, so it really affects me.

As long as the tie in issues of the books I care about are still well written, and I don't have to read every book that ties-in to know what's going on, I don't mind them so much. I personally like to see characters appear in books they normally wouldn't appear in (like Luthor or Deathstroke in a Bat book,) once in a while, and events are one of the only few times when that happens, so that's a plus. There are too many these days though. Unfortunately, those are what sells the most. Can't say that there are too many I loved 52, and I thought Infinite Crisis was pretty good, but you really only needed to read the main books.

Okay 52 was awesome. Although it was a bit before I got into comics. I bought all the trades last summer and loved it!

Have you read Ultimates, Ultimates 2, DoCA or 52?
They are all epic!
