Kitty and Storm -very close friends that had a child-mother type feel at first but has evolved into more of a lil sis-big sis relationship. Sadly they rarely share any conversations or have bond anymore. *Hopefully Brian Wood can remedy that in his book*

Kitty and Wolverine -another very important person in Kitty's life and one that gave Kitty great stories and development. I like their former daughter-father like bond. I feel when she decided to join him at the school it recaptured some of that familial love. But with Kitty all grown up she is much more of a lil sis now to his big bro.

Kitty and Magik -they had a very close friendship and shared so much. They were almost like sisters but because of the events of Inferno and then Illyana dying their relationship has not been seen since.

Kitty and Cypher - before Cyper realized her was a new mutant, he and Kitty were nerdy friends who loved computers. It was also hinted that he might have been attracted to her but nothing came of it.

Kitty and Karma -they became really close when they both left the X-teams and were in Chicago together working at a college. Even though Karma might have had unrequited affection for Kitty, and Kitty just lost Colossus, they were the very close and supported one another.

Can we create a resource for people to see the many friendships characters have with one another.

All we to do is pick a character. Name as many of their close friendships as you can. And maybe describe why it works or why would like to see it again, if it hasn't been touched upon recently. Let's remind everyone what made the X-men so exceptional.

And people can add to other people's lists by just quoting them and expanding on it.

@phoenixofthetides: There is an image of Storm with full on slit pupil cat eyes, in a group shot from some issue where the team are gathered around Madelyne Pryor and her baby. It almost looks like she wants to eat little Nate. ^-^ It's great.

1. Zeb Wells -rebuilt the legacy of New Mutants. Reuniting the old school team, resurrecting Cypher and Warlock, and reintroducing Legion and the Darkchylde. But they were no longer just New Mutants, the were New X-men.

2. Victor Gischler -restarted the adjectiveless X-men again, but with the goal of having them connect to the larger Marvel Universe. Those books got me through the Utopia days of the X-men and would then form the Security team, which would give us the next writer to help fix things...

3. Brian Wood -has given us stories that aren't about the same old same old and is trying to do something Leading to the creation of a team X-fans have been waiting years for. He's my hope for the future because he can writer women as equals

4. Marjorie Liu -has been working so hard in her little corners of the Marvel landscape trying to write thoughtful story about characters and not plots or event. But as one of the only women in comic book she has to work against a system that ignores most of her efforts and contributions. She gets the X-men like a true fan would and knows how to breathe new life into many obscure and marginalized characters. She represents so much as her stories are full of that understanding and insight into being a minority or misfit in society. I hope Marvel has a new project for her to really make the best of her talents and affection with a much more important team.

5. Kieron Gillen -for the brief time he was on did a lot with so little. He created the Extinction team by recruiting the right characters for the task, and gave us a year of intelligent and exciting new development and distractions until the inevitable clusterfudge that was AvX, he made the best of what he was given, since he had no involvment in that crossover, and if had maybe it wouldn't have failed like it did, so badly.

10 is my magic number.

The bigger the team the better. But most writers can't handle all those character and make them all shine individually and as a team. The classic New Mutants line up that returned from Asgard had 9 members and then Magneto took over as headmaster which made 10.

@knighthood: If I am not mistaken, it is referring to Storm being a descendant of a line of white haired witches.

@silver_raven: did you know about this?

Proto-Storm, mixed with a character called Tempest or Typhoon to create Storm. :)

Yeah i knew about her design origin, which might explain why some artists pay homage to her cat eyes, but then story wise it doesn't make much sense. Unless it is part of her mystical heritage, which is my theory and maybe Claremont's too, IDK?

Sadly so much of Storm history and legacy has been ignored. If i could write a Storm's origins book I would love to delve back into her ancestry and explain why her lineage have the white hair and blue cat eyes. Like Ayesha the first Sorceress Supreme and then later Ashake, of ancient Eygpt, who met the New Mutants. She also had the cat eyes, and blue eyes and white hair as well.

I like the idea of Psylocke developing her telekinesis into these psychic constructs because it distinguishes her from other telekinetics, like Rachel, and is a clever resolution to her confusing power set.

And I love Storm's cat eyes. In my head canon, it is another part of her white witch heritage, along with the white hair and blues.

@hawk2916: @oldnightcrawler: Even though i don't get why Magik would want to be on that team, at least she is in the spotlight and will hopefully remain there as a real X-men.

All the New Mutants needs to evolve into real X-men and get the recognition they deserve. I am all for Cannonball and Mirage getting to lead their own teams or working together and doing their own thing. Like X-Treme Sanctions Executive or X-Corporations.

@silver_raven: well, like I said, it just doesn't feel forced to me.

But I'm starting to think that this really has more to do with you not liking Cyclops. Which, whatever, you don't have to like him, he's kind of a dick. But if you want to know why Magik would be on his team, you might try looking at him as Magik would instead of how you do. It doesn't mean that you have to like him, and I can even get why that would make you not like him, but that wasn't your question.

I dislike a lot of characters but i can see beyond that when there are relationship dynamics at work that makes sense and/or have history behind it.

For example:

I love Storm and I hate Wolverine, but i like them as a couple and he doesn't bother me as much when next to Storm.

I hate Rogue but I enjoy her on X-WoMen because of their friendship and maybe I can grow to like her again.

I love Dani Moonstar and I would really enjoy to see her on Cyclops team, even if I don't really like his side, but it would be believable to see her want to be on Scott's side when he was there for her. And she could create more connective ties between the characters.

And as for Magik. She is one of my second fav New Mutant, but I think i would prefer her as a villain right now then on some wannabe X-men team. Or ideally be the X-men's trickster character and play both sides and help who ever she wanted to. She feels too domesticated for my liking.
