Comic Capers Freestyle Heist Vol. 1

The most frequently asked question I've been getting is "Silk you done with the review?" In honest likely not, but I have been on a Sabbatical to improve my comic writing skills and knowledge. I can breakdown a comic, sure, but can I write one? So that became my new goal, how well can I write comics. For those interested I am considering of starting my own website from my reviews to my future webcomics and one of the ideas I had was licensed characters rapping. I guess since the rap battle thread I went to often was a creative outlet. Okay, no more of a wait. the wonderful M.S. Feather gracefully agreed to adapted one of these rap scripts I came up with. So here is the first installment of Comic Capers Freestyle Heist.

Comic Capers Freestyle Heist is a concept open to any artist on the vine. Feather and I love Plas, so of course I had to give the exclusive offer on the script. The idea is the arts who wants certain characters I work exclusive with them on that character to up hold a visual continuity. The comic is as much mine as is the artist' since it is not profit and licensed characters in a "fan comic" and a collaboration. Any artist interested let me know who you want and we can bounce around ideas. I have been taking my writing more seriously, so my personal projects will be my priority on how I see fit, just to mention in advance. Comic Capers Freestyle Heist is one of the few webcomics I am looking into doing a a webcomic, so the more volunteers the better.

In all honesty I felt the only flaw to this mini-comic would be my script. Feather nailed everything I could of asked and made the right choices when I was not clear enough. So please let us know what you think. If you don't like it, we might send Woozy Winks on you.

@Billy Batson: John I want to do, gotta brush up on my brit of course. The problem will be the artist, since John is my boy I want an artist I can constantly trust. Maybe I'll pitch it to the artist of my main indie project Forever.

I love your artwork, Feather, but I have a suggestion.

If you want to get as many people as possible going to your website, use characters that EVERYONE has hear of.

Unlikely rappers like Batman, Wolverine or even Charles Xavier. Characters that are normally serious ones.

I am glad you liked the script. I knew when it came to mind at least you would like it. It was an honor and for sure Plas is exclusive to you. I don't know how I can top that line, but I will try.

Bloody amazing! Nice to see it come together. I was blown away before M.S. Feather's amazing art skills were applied, but now the excellent rhymes play off really nice against that beautiful art. Very very nice! Thanks for letting us view free of charge *smile*

Thank you kindly. Shoot... this was free, I should fix that. Of course I am joking, wow joking doesn't work well online from my end.
But I am glad you liked it.
I means a lot.
I don't know many artist willing to do a free project, I guess that is why Feather was perfect for the first story, I knew I wanted Plas to be the first and she loves the character as much as I do.

I wonder if I straight out post the scripts in the artist show offs will people tend adapted it.

I am hoping too. The premise I came up with is more of a heist then this first one was.
Plas was the first gender bender I can think of and I am glad it worked the way I intended. I knew Feather knows Plas.
And yes, it is a pretty Plas.

The Forever People would certainly be an unlikely group to show any interest in rap. However, googling "Forever People" is probably something that doesn't happen that often.

I think that Catwoman would be almost as unlikely...and just about everyone knows who Catwoman is.

I still like the idea of Wolvie as a rapper. He has a terrible vocabulary already, so it's not as though he would have to learn any fancy words. (With Charles X. as his greedy manager...of course!)

I've actually been sketching Wolverine since one of my fellow reviewers was shocked I reviewed the Lapham one-shot Wolverine issue a few months back. I actually love Wolverine, he is one of my favorite Marvel characters and he is Canadian to boot. So in all honest, maybe I should try making a beastly Adam Kubert inspired version for myself and see how bad of a comic I can make.

The fact this has had no interest in artist wanting to team up with me, then if I want another character, Feather might be the only artist willing to work with me.

Great Mini Comic. i loved the writing and the art. I can't wait to see more. The script was funny even if you knew nothing about Plastic Man you explained the character in only two pages that way new readers of him could understand the mini comic. Great Work.

Yes, he explained Plastic Man, but Plastic man is not a character whose name is googled a lot.

Until this team gets a following, they are best served by using characters whose names are googled A LOT!

There are sooooooooooo many unknown creators doing webcomics these days...

If you throw out a hook with just a little bit of bait on it...you won't catch a fish (let alone a big one).

There might have been double-entendres in there that people who listen to a lot of rap would pick up on, but since I don't, it didn't make me laugh. It just made me scratch my head.

I was disappointed because normally Silk is a really good wordsmith.

Not a terrible first try, Silk, just not up to your usual standards.

Have you ever checked out Jason? He's a Norwegian writer/artist who has a clean, minimal art style very similar to Feather's. One looks at his stories for the first time expecting childish humor...but that's not what one gets.

His stories are DARK...very dark...like the majority of rap music is.

Below is a short list of some of his GN's. Do yourself a favor and check out one or two before writing your Catwoman story. You will be delighted, I'm sure. :-)
