@V_Scarlotte_Rose: Yeah, I was also bummed out about WW being the only female founder.

Batman should get more credit because he has 50% male and 50% female for his supporting cast. Many comics like The Avengers are all straight white male with a female token member(black widow).

The Avengers do have some diversity though. They have Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel), Scarlet Witch, Wasp, Spider-Woman, Tigra, etc representing women. Luke Cage, Black Panther and Monica Rambeau(former Captain Marvel) are black, and I'm sure there are some other ethnicities represented, just can't think who right now. Can't think of any gay Avengers though. Anyone know any?

Aside from Monica, the rest of the women that you named are all (in terms of appearance)essentially white females.

I was responding to "The Avengers are all straight white male with a female token member(black widow)." I was just pointing out to the person that they don't have a "token woman", as there are lots more women in The Avengers than just Black Widow.

Yes, but it does sometimes seem that way(that they have a token woman, I mean), since most Avenger teams seem to only have around one or two women on a team while the rest of the line-ups are men. There's usually a skewed sex-ratio when it comes to teams.

Without decent representation of different groups then you get subliminal messaging of the represented groups superiority.

2. Here is an economic reason, if you create characters that have different ethnicities, then people of those ethnicities might start being interested in reading that character. I mean Wonder Woman was an icon for women, and attracted many female readers. Logic doesn't fail that if you create and Arab superhero that more Arabs would start reading it (especially cause the hype around Arab superheroes is usually so dramatic).

To point 1, I never really understand that point. Most of the US is white. if what creates a superhero/metahuman is random, then most superheros/metahuman should also be white. It is reflecting the racial distribution in society. Do you want that ignored, and instead have a more equal distribution for fantasy purposes?

To the second point, I would like to say Simon Baz.

LOL. Come on down to Southern California, bud, and you'll find that white people are the minority to Asians here. I swear, having a white friend in California is like having an Asian(me) for a friend in Ohio. To be honest, I think that if comics were to reflect on real life racial distributions, then they should take note of which community the hero is supposed to hail from. Also, why are you so against having more racially diverse characters? Are there not enough white heroes in comicdom to satisfy you?

Also, as a side note, I was very happy with Marvel when I discovered Jubilee. It's nice to see an Asian-American hero that has nothing to do with kung-fu or karate.

I was done reading after you treated Stephanie Brown like nothing.

Well, you have to admit, Steph doesn't really add anything to the Bat family. She's basically an average teen girl who forced herself into the clan. Her intellect and skills are average, and while Steph is gutsy, so is practically every other hero out there.

Team one takes this. Storm gets taken down by Diana and Supes takes down Thor.

I can't see Storm tied down with anyone at the moment for any long period. Even with Wolverine.
