Spoilers: The Dark Knight Rises and the Avengers are one and the

Now obviously they are two different movies so not everything is the same but the plot structure is the same exact thing. After the heroes have been separated from each other, they reunite at a city, and lead the city's police officers against an army of foes that overpower them. The climax of that battle is one of the heroes, in both cases the billionaire with fancy gadgets flies away with a nuclear bomb in a suicide mission to get enough distance between the bomb and the city but the hero still ultimately survives. The similarities make me wonder that if Nolan saw the Avengers he thought " Crap, it's the same ending"

Also both Black Widow and Catwoman, who are athletic, acrobatic woman, who are expert at seducing, and wear skin tight black outfits ride a fancy motorcycle.

Which makes me laugh when I think about all TDKR fanboys who say the Avengers sucked. I mean obviously no one copied anyone and it's a strange quiescence but just funny how they praise one. Personally I enjoyed both movies Avenger more because I like the good natured feel over the extremely dark and gritty but to say either is a bad movie or doesn't deserve praise is silly.

The only difference is that for Marvel they needed a whole team of superheroes to save the day...DC only needed Batman. :P

The Dark Knight Rises is all about Bruce rising from his pain. It is the culmination of why he became Batman, he needs to be broken in order to fix himself. When he rose from the pit, he became the true Batman, and gave his life for the people of the city.

The Avengers was just a popcorn, smash up. Albeit a very good popcorn smash up.

@RainEffect: I'm not denying that the movies had very different tones. In fact I find it interesting how they can have the same situation yet create a completely different feel to it. I was merely saying the plot structure was the same, while tone and character arcs are very different. .

@War Killer: Batman would have died if it wasn't for Catwoman saving him from bane. Plus you had John Blake, Gordon, and the whole entire Gotham police force

Also would anybody like to explain the major plot hole in the movie.Hod did Bruce Wayne, who had no money or contact device and was left in the middle of the middle east get to gotham city in only a few days time. for a great film it has a pretty big plot device.

Ever gone to "Movieplotholes.com"? I don't think TDKR is on it yet....(of course it will be) but the first two Bat-films along with The Avengers, and a a whole host of Marvel Studio Films are on it. Fun reading.

@Manwhohaseverything: Have you seen the plot holes for Avengers though? Cause it sounds like some nerdy fanboy wrote them cause he was angry at the movie. Especially sense the "plot holes" can be easily explained.

@BlueLantern1995: JA IT DID. SLOW START, HAS COMEDY THROWN IN AT RANDOM MOMENTXS, SIMPLE PLOT, BIG ACTIONY SCENES HALF WAY THROUGH, SOME FINAL SAVE THE WORLD GAMBIT AT THE END, GOOD GUY LIVES THROUGH GAMBIT, MAIN GUYS END ON A COMEDIC NOTE. JUST LIKE TRANSFORMERS, BATTLESHIP, BAD BOYS. EXECPT WITH TRANSFORMERS I KNEW IT WOULD BE ACTIONY, WITH BATTLESHIP I WENT IN WITH LOW EXPECTATIONS, BUT IT GOT RAISED A BIT, AND BAD BOYS WAS OUT WHEN I WAS YOUNG SO I WOULDN'T JUDGE IT AS I WOUOD NOW. IF ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE MORE OF A COMPLIMENT BECAUSE THE MOVIE WAS BORING HALF WAY THROUGH ONLY GOT BETTER WHEN HULK WAS SMASHING STUFF. HULK AND IRONMAN WERE THE ONPY INTERSTING AVENGERS IN THE MOVIE. CAPTAIN AMERICA JUMPED OVER CARS AND FOUGHT THEALIENS, BLACKWIDOW BEAT HAWKEYE, HAWKEYE HAS A GOOD ACTOR PLAYING HIM, BUT HQWKEYE IS A BORINT CHARACTER THESE THREE AREN'T REALLY NEEDED FOR THAT FIGHT JUST MEMBERS TO FILL SPOTS. THOR IS ONLY NEEDED BECAUSE HIS MUCH MORE INTERSTING BROTHER LOKI IS THERE OTHER THAN THAT ADDED MUSCLE. THE MOVIE DIDN'T TELL HOW THOR GOT BACK AND HE JUST ATTACK THE GUYS. MOVIE THOR HAS LOST MY RESPECT AND IS PORTRAYED AS AN UNFIT GOD IMO. OTHER THAN THOR, STREET LEVELER AVENGERS, THE FIRST SIXTY MINUTES, IT WAS A DYNAMITE MOVIE. IN A MICHAEL BAY TYPE WAY.

@FearTheLiving:  I disagree, I don't think The Avengers was plot-hole free. Almost no movie is.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the reason I really didn't like The Avengers was lack of conflict. Loki's army was no threat, They were basically henchmen, high tech henchmen but henchmen nonetheless. Loki himself was used as comic fodder in defeat. We all know the good guys win in the end, but I never felt like The Avengers were even in trouble. I know a lot of people disagree, and loved the Avengers, and I'm okay with that, but just because someone didn't like it, doesn't make them "angry" And I'm not anti-Marvel movies. In the top 5 comic movies thread, I have 3 Marvel based ones,  2 of those done by Marvel Studios.

@Manwhohaseverything: I can understand that, but I think the purpose of the Avengers movie was to get the team together and Loki did that. He wasn't the most threatening villain but he did bring an army so it was still a pretty big threat. Also sure I suppose you could call the things on that site plot holes but I think that's a stretch. I may have gone to far with angry nerds I really meant that it just seemed they wanted to find something wrong with it and nitpicked small details that aren't really plot holes.

With Thanos probably being the bad guy in Avengers 2 I'm sure he'll put up one hell of a fight. That said they are still a team of superheroes and like most superhero movies the threat never really seems like it could potentially wipe them out. Personally I loved the movie as you can probably tell, but I can also accept that people don't.

@FearTheLiving: I don't think the plot hole site is to be taken seriously. We all suspend disbelief, and not once did I watch The Avengers and say "Why doesn't Black Widow grab one of the alien weapons?"  Heck, I loved TDK, but I did scratch my head when Joker told Harvey "Do I look like a man with a plan? I'm like a dog chasing a car I wouldn't know what to do with it I caught one." Ummm...I dunno Joker, that bank robbery at the beginning of the movie seemed pretty well planned and detail-oriented to me!

Agree on Thanos. Not a character I know much about, but from reading stuff on here, he seems like a major threat. I am looking forward to Avengers II on that alone.

I liked Avengers, but was fairly disappointed in Batman. I'm a big fan of Batman, I liked the John Blake storyline, but that was almost the only thing I liked. I loved Avengers.

I agree, but Joss Whedon's popcorn smash up did it with alot more intelligence.

Alot of what you said is really intelligent, but I disagree with the last part. Bruce Wayne became the true Batman when his parents died. When he was broken by Bane he died (in spirit) and when he rose from the pit the Batman (that Bane had killed in spirit) was resurrected. And like you said, this new Batman was ready to give his life for Gotham.

Getting broken only reminded Bruce that he's only human. It helped him take to heart what Alfred told him about not wanting to have to go to his funeral. Unlike DC's Batman, Nolan's Batman is a bit more realistic so naturally he's not going to have unlimited luck. That said, Bruce's primary objective was to boost the morale of Gotham by creating a narrative that showed it was possible to overcome the corruption in Gotham. Originally Dent was meant to be Gotham's hero, but that didn't work out. In the end Batman died because it fit into the narrative that Wayne was trying to create. Bane showed him that one day he could die in a way that illustrated to Gotham that heroes weren't real and the hope of overcoming corruption is just a fantasy. So instead Wayne used his second chance and the nuclear bomb to create the ultimate ending to the story of Batman, a man sacrificing his life to save the city from a nuclear disaster. Basically he was able to end the story on his terms as opposed to letting some villain dictate the narrative.

The rising from the pit also helped Wayne to learn to take leaps of faith and by learning to take that leap of faith he was able to "rise from his pain" and create a new life with Catwoman who was also looking to start a new life. She gave him the strength he needed to start a new life, because with her he didn't have to do it alone and he could start a new life with someone who truly knew who he was and accepted him as a whole.

Because...wait for it. .....HE'S BATMAN! Batman can do anything, this one time, at Band Camp, Major Payne broke Bruce's fingers, and he screamed. It was so funny and everybody laughed and laughed.
