Serpent Society. Where are they now?

Ever since I was little i've had a fascination with reptiles. Used to collect plastic dinosaurs and snakes. So when i found out there was a team made entirely of snake themed villains i was excited to say the least. Here's a team of villains that actually works together, has benefits, and now and again beats the heroes.

For years they battled Captain America, the X-Men, and in one universe they even killed Spider-man. But now you rarely see the team. Most members have retired ,(Side Winder, Rock Python) split from the group, (Boomslang, Diamondback) or in the case of mutant members( Puff Adder, Slither) been de-powered. Now I think there down to five members. I personally think this team hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves and really hope they make a revamped team with new members.

They should really return for some payback against everyone who thinks that they're a joke, once upon a time they were known as the Avengers of the crimminal underworld!

I think new members are the last thing they need. The Serpent Society has so many members, a lot of whom had some development over the years (Black Mamba, Anaconda, Bushmaster) but a lot who haven't (Rattler, Coachwhip, Puff Adder). Now that Death Adder is back, I think a revamped Serpent Society with Sidewinder back as leader, and members consisting of the more interesting members (my ideal group would be Sidewinder, Black Mamba, Anaconda, Cottonmouth, Rattler, and Bushmaster, with Asp, Coachwhip, Fer-de-Lance, Boomslang, etc. as reserve members).

I'd like to see a revamped team with a mix of old and new faces (especially after Fear Itself with the Serpent's attack and all) using some mythical serpents as well (Eden, Midgar serpent, nagas, 'Irish serpent') or some now unused names (viper being madame hydra, boomslang, cottonmouth [detained by american eagle])

What id really like is to see the Villains Union idea being a focus. Votes and benefits in action. Maybe even legal attempts in the court using fronts as a legitimate business.

@AfternoonWalker: That's what I thought we would see in Fear Itself, at least one of the members getting a hold of one of the hammers and reuniting the team for the Serpent.

It still annoys me that Diamondback hasn't shown up anywhere after Avengers: the Initiative ended.

The Serpent Society seems to be popping up everywhere nowadays.

They were in Battle Scars #3-4 (although Deadpool shoots Cottonmouth in the head and cuts off Anaconda's arm), then Avenging Spider-Man (with Anaconda and Cottonmouth completely recovered), and most recently Avengers Vs. X-Men where Hope battled and defeated them.

It'd be nice if they weren't played up as fodder for once. And a little more consistency with the roster. Apparently Sidewinder, Asp, Copperhead, and Death Adder are all back with the Serpent Society.

@x35: The Sidewinder seen with the Serpent Society isn't Volkner, it's the third one. At least that's what I seem to have read elsewhere.

I've also noticed that.

Sidewinder (or at least a new one) appeared in Avenging Spiderman.

CottonMouth (Who I thought was dead) is also with the society. Same with Asp. I'm betting Rattler is also still alive somehow.

Although I wish that sometimes they weren't treated as fodder. I mean, sometimes they are portrayed as menacing...other times Hope Summers can solo them. That's just BS.
