I have been a HUGE fan of MMA for the past 10 years, and I have trained in MMA for the past few years. I have been a big fan of comics for the past year. So I have a much bigger understanding of MMA or Martial Arts than I do comic book characters. After watching UFC tonight, I wanted to tie comic book characters to MMA in some way, and here it is:

I am reading Archer & Armstrong. Archer has been taught multiple martial arts throughout his life. Archer's powers from some military project has allowed him to excel in these martial arts. Though Archer does not possess any "super powers". No super strength, no super speed, etc. I haven't had the chance to read all of the characters in Marvel or DC and their origins, but any that i have seem to have received their powers and have been able to fight like they have been training for years. I realize that there are some characters like the Hulk who just smash, and this makes perfect sense. He's not performing flying high kicks.

My questions are this: Can you name any characters with super powers that have had Martial Arts training? Do you think the characters with super powers would be a much larger threat if they did have Martial Arts training (at least in one on one fights with other super powered characters)?

I am a huge MMA fan and a big comic fan. I am just checking to see if there are any MMA fans out there on this forum.

Tonight we saw another amazing free night of fights in the UFC.

1. Clay Guida: I'm so glad he has made the change to 145lbs. He always looked like a small lightweight, so I think he will be a top 5 145er for the next few years. No I don't think he will be a title contender, or at the most a champion, but I think he will be a very entertaining and formidable fighter in this class.

2. Texiera: I am a big fan of the old Rampage, but I am glad that Texiera is continuing his winning streak. I think he will continue to get better and one day take on the champ. I am Canadian but I always seem to root for the Brazilians.

3. Mighty Mouse: This guy is awesome! Dodson is awesome too. Dodson had some very nice knockdowns, but did you see how fast Johnson jumped back up and into the fight?! It's amazing to watch these guys. Yes, the lightweight classes don't have the power of the bigger fighters, but I still love watching them. So fast, so fast.

Aldo and Edgar is next! Once again, I am rooting for the Brazilian!

This is a bit off of what the original author of the post was looking for, but I would love to see a short series on Joker's henchmen (from a different timeline than now in Death in the Family). They're not supervillians or anything, but with the right writer(s), I think it could be funny and awesome.

As a Valiant fan, I can't help but think that we are quickly on the rise to being thought of as annoying fanboys. With Greg K at the head of the charge, I always find posts demanding people to start reading Valiant (I am uber guilty of this). But if you were reading Valiant you would be a fanboy too! :D

To get a comic valued is somewhat expensive, but if your comics may be worth $100-$400, then it will be worth it. Check out the CGC website for information on their grading system and process. Basically, you mail the comic book to them, they take your money and a few to several weeks to grade, then they seal it in a nice hard plastic cover. The comics information and grading is displayed on the plastic cover. You may want to check through your books before you send them and grade them yourself using a common grading standard found on any internet search (this would give you a good idea what kind of condition the books are actually in before you send it for professional grading). Now, here's the kicker, your books are only worth what people are willing to pay for it. People may be asking for $100-$400 for well graded books, but if no one is buying, or if people are only willing to pay $50 for them, then your books are only worth $1-$50. This is the think about investing in comic books, you have to be prepared to hold on to them for as long as it takes to find a buyer at the price you want. General rule, sell the new comics fast and hold onto the old books.

If the baby later named Clark Kent arrived on Earth with no powers, he would grow up in the midwest with two loving adopted parents, would have played football (but not most likely not had the physical attributes to go farther than high school football). He would have no need to pretend to be weak and introverted, so his career path as a quiet reporter for the Daily Planet would more likely be a tv reporting position leading to a news anchor, being that this would take place in the 1950's to 1970's, he would have been very respected. He would have had the confidence to date Lois Lane as himself. Due to his upbringing, he would have married and had children with her, later enjoying his grandchildren. (This is assuming that his species can conceive with our species).

Thank you for the Bedlam review. I read the first issue and loved it, but I wanted to see reviews on issues 2 & 3 to see if it was worth following. Looks like it is.

@FiguredOut95: You sound kinda disappointed in my reply above. My guess is because I didn't see Punisher winning the battle. But now let me expand my imagination and let Frank Castle be the man we know he is. So the Nazis have arrived on the shores on the US and the Alliance's armies have obviously been wiped out along the North Eastern states at least. However, this wouldn't take place in hours, most likely days, so the Punisher would have time to think and prepare before he acted. Knowing that he would be the only man up against an army (again with amazing snipers), and in NYC, Frank would set bombs under each building's foundation (military explosives, gas tankers, etc - he would figure it out). He would then pile up empty cars strategically in the streets and filter the Nazis into a bottleneck death tunnel (think 300). Now he can take the guys in the bottleneck with the artillery in his battle van, however, the Nazis would send snipers up the buildings to shoot down on the Punisher, but this is where phase 2 takes place. He blows out the foundations, the buildings collapse and somehow the building both come down onto the army of Nazis and explode around to make out the very Skull logo he wears on his shirt. F*** Ya Punisher! F*** Ya! You just saved the US and made the Alliance proud!

Rogue. My wife doesn't let me touch her now, so I think it wouldn't be a big change if I couldn't touch Rogue if she were my wife. I'm a simple man, I don't like change.
