Stan is a great guy.  I only started getting into comics in August last year, so while I'm familiar with how important Stan Lee is in the industry, and constantly hear his name dropped in a lot of comic-related things, I'd never actually seen him in person.

It's good to see that it wasn't all hype, and he really does have a continued passion for artistic entertainment.

Ah, finally!  Being in the UK, there's no comic stores near me for hundreds of miles.  The only places I can buy comics from are either TPBs from Amazon (which, for older TPBs, cost ridiculous prices used), or single issues from comixology-style iPad apps.

Vance, this doesn't encourage piracy at all.  If anything, it helps prevent it, because people now have a means of buying the issues, and usually for cheap prices in comparison too.   It used to be a case of 'Want DC comics on your iPad?  Tough!  You can't!  Unless you get some kind of torrent of CBZ files....'.

Now there's actually the option of buying them, getting better quality images and panel-by-panel reading, and supporting the company.  There's no down-side to this, only positives, especially for those who have never seen a 'comic store' in their lives.

I don't have a 'local comic shop' in England, and from what I hear, most people I talk to online (worldwide) don't have any local comic shops either... so until now, I've only ever bought fairly recent TPBs from Amazon (anything older, especially Marvel stuff, sells used at ridiculously high prices).

Digital comics finally allow me to buy the individual issues themselves!  I can't believe people are actually shunning it and hoping that it's a fad that'll die out, because it's the only way I can legally get comics that aren't released in TPBs...   it's even more annoying when people think that they should "get comics first" because they live near a comic store, and have digital customers wait months or years before they're allowed to buy or read them.

How the heck is it ever a good idea to shun people away from comics just because of where they live?
