Prometheus Film

Just got back from the opening night showing of Ridley Scott's Prometheus movie. Set in the same universe as the classic Alien franchise, this movie served not just as a prequel of sorts, but to expand the Alien universe. So this is just an opinions page. Say whatever you'd like about what you thought of the movie. Please use the spoilers option though if your gut feeling is that it will ruin the movie for others. I really liked the movie. It wasn't perfect (no film is) but it had amazing visuals and a couple nice twists. I think it could have been more creepy like Alien was, but still a solid sci-fi movie non the less. What did you guys think?

Loved it, and I think the plot was brilliant. The only part I didn't like was when the guy came back to life as a deformed strong guy. That was cheesy.

But this movie makes alot of sense and I love how it ties in with Alien, or what I am suspecting it does.

I viewed that as an effect of the biological weapon. After all, we saw what it did to those worms, and in turn, him, lol.

@BiteMe-Fanboy: In turn creating more weapons to use and unleash. See I love stuff where you have to think about the motives of everyone after the movie ends and you start to figure it out on your own.. (some people probably picked it up instantly) but yea the movie had flaws but overall I really liked it because it felt original and although not creepy like Alien still had a awesome premise and universe to exist in. Theres to many straight up alien invasion movies and not enough smart sci-fi.

True. I think it was great. Going back to see it Sunday.

@BiteMe-Fanboy: I agree with you. There was a over arching circle of life theme with the the "bio" living weapons. Kinda goes back to the David quote "sometimes you have to destroy life, to create it." So If you catch my drift with that I think thats why the Space Jockeys created humans in the first place.

Exactly. I think they were taking their new creation to Earth to make humans their host. Thus destroying life, to create it.

@SavageDragon: My friend is an idiot. He has a really narrow taste, is quick to nitpick and call the worst thing I ever seen until he finds the next one. He is entitled to his opinion sure, but its not very credible. Personally, I don't think the movie sucked and I've a lot worse this year to contend for that title (The Raven, Three Stooges and The Devil Inside).

Prometheus had flaws, but it was a great movie. Almost every alien in the movie can be tied to perhaps a early version of a xenomorph facehugger, chest buster, and adult. At least, that's what I think.

Me too. I think the movie is just fine and many were expecting a masterpiece. I got with two my friends who were really anticipating this movie saying "OMG Its going to be better than the Avengers" when we left they were so disappointed, one of them was already calling it "the worst of 2012".

No way dude your friend must not have seen a bunch of movies so far this year. I mean, MIB 3 was lame, the Raven was lame, The dictator...god awful. I even saw the Miror mirror movie and that was ok. Hunger games was pretty good but no way was Prometheus a bad flick. Hes entitled to his opinion but I think thats his own hype and anticipation talking when it was something different than what he expected.

It was by no means horrible, but..yeah, I had such high expectations and it just...fell flat. Athough, I have only myself to blame, I was expecting an Alien prequel although Scott said it wouldn't be one, sure it had elements of Alien lore to it, but for the most part, it was an independent film.

This review pretty much sums up how I feel about it:
