Good Female Leads to Read

I noticed lately that DC Comics has some good titles that have a strong female as a main character like Wonder Woman, Batgirl, and Batwoman for example. Recently Marvel has cancelled a number of series. One of them that surprised me was X-23's title being cancelled and that her title was the only title that had a female as a lead.

Recently, Marvel has announced that Ms. Marvel would be Captain Marvel and be getting her own title. So I was wondering what other titles that have a good female as a lead. Like is Ms. Marvel's title good or not?

Alternate universe characters being in Mainstream, yes or no?

A lot of charcaters that appear in mainstream contiunity usually get an alternate version of themselves with simliar backgrounds but act a little different. For example, Spider-man and his ultimate universe counterpart. Both became Spider-Man during high school but Peter Parker of the ultimate inverse died at a young age. After his death, a new Spider-Man appeared. the new Spider-Man is Miles Morales. He pretty much has the same powers as Ultimate Peter Parker but a has a couple more powers. I was wondering if this be a good idea. If Miles Morales had a 616 counterpart? Could it be a good idea for characters that originated in an alternate universe appeared in the main universe, not crossing over through diminsions but having their own version of that character.

Sounds interesting or just plain stupid?

Paperback or Hardcover, which is better?

Which is better to have? The hardcover or paperback?

Usually when comics get collected into trades they usually go into hardcover first then paperback after a few months. In some cases, comics will be in paperback only.

I'm wondering, which is better to have? Paperback or hardcover? Is it better to get the story when its a hardcover and spend a few extra dollars or wait like 6 months later to get in paperback? Plus if only collects like a few issues, should it be a hardcover?

I have a question

This might sound a little random but I need to know something.

Are there any comic book characters that have a Heart Transplant? Good or bad? Preferably good.

Someone asked me this and its something I want to know now.

Also, is there anyone who uses heart as a superpower or as a source? Like Cyclops using his eyes for his beams?

Please, if anyone can tell me I would appreciate it.

Horrors, Western, Crime, Science Fiction Comics

I just did a blog recently about Supernatural and Dark Comics, and I have been wondering about other genres. This time I was wondering about some other genres like Horror, Western and Crime in the comics. The New 52 has some of these out in a group called The Edge. Some of the titles are interesting but others idk. & I'm sure they're other publishers that have some good titles that fall in these category. SO what are some goos titles to read in Horror, Westerns or in Crime or even Science Fiction? I'm probably reading some in these already but I want to know more about it. Aside from the Superhero theme, I like these kinda of genre. So it be nice to see some good horror, westerns, some good crimes comics or sci-fi stuff.

Supernatural and Dark Comics

Over the years, some comics have a supernatural theme to them or have a particaular dark feeling to them.

The New 52 releaesed a few that kinda caught my eyes but I wondering if they're worth the read. Is: I, Vampire, Voodoo, and Justice League Dark.

Are they any other that are dark, supernatural or anything that are worth the read? I'm use to superheroes, superhero teams and some black ops stuff. So this kinda patheitc excuse for a blog, but I kinda want to to expand my comic book reading. For The New 52, DC Comics has the titles filed under different groups. The groups are: Justice League, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Young Justice, The Dark, and The Edge. I like some of the Justice League group, The Superman titles, Most of Batman titles, The Green Lantern titles, Teen Titans, and Deathstroke.

If anyone can give any recommdations, to good supernatural or dark comics, I would appreciate it.

Just Wondering about a couple things.

In the New 52, they released a lot of different comic books. Some are good and some are bad and others can use some work. Some of the good ones are (Keep in mind, I'm listing a few examples, if I don't list all of them, my bad): Action Comics, Justice League, Batman, Green Lantern, and Batman and Robin. Some of the bad ones: The ones being canceled. Some that can use some work: Superman, Detective Comics maybe, and Red Lanterns. I haven't read all of them but I'm pretty sure that they could use some works. I think it sucks that some are the titles are being cancelled. I don't read them personally only cause the characters don't really appeal to me or aren't interesting to me. But I think that the titles that are scoring average could possibly need a new writer or come up with a new concept to make it appealing so the sales for the books can be higher.

Superman for example, its about him fighting different aliens. I personally think they could of tweaked the story and made it so Superman can feel more accepted. It would make more sense for Superman to be outcasted during his origins and probably much later in his hero career after he becomes one of the world's greatest heroes. For example, Superman is outcasted at first but after doing some heroic things and saves Earth from Brainiac and Darkseid, he becomes more accepted to society. After like 10 years, something happens to him and it causes him to attack and nearly kill an important figure in the government. After he regains his senses, people start to not trust Superman and lose faith in him. This came to mind when I remembered the Superman: Animated Series and the Justice League cartoon. He becomes very respected in the animated Universe but after being brainwashed by Darkseid at the end of the series, people start to fear him and in Justice League Unlimited, they had a very powerful weapon on their base. Lex Luthor hacked the system and made the gun fire at Cadmus. The world began to wonder can the League be trusted. They were no fatalities but a lot of people were injured due to the shockwave.

This is just a thought. Its not the greatest but its something. I think when a great characters comics does average to bad, I think its kinda on the writer. They have good ideas but I think its how they're executed is whats can cause some problems. Like the end of Fear Itself for istance or the entire event. Some mini-series had interesting ideas but they were just executed a little badly.

Brian Michael Bendis

Ever since I made an account on this website, I have noticed that there's been a lot of negative feedback towards Brian Michael Bendis.

I've been wanting to ask this for a while now: Why do a lot of people not like Brian Michael Bendis? Is it his writing style, his stories what is it?

He's written: The Majority of the Ultimate Universe(Notably Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) Avengers, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Dark Avengers, Daredevil, Moon Knight, House of M, Secret Invasion, Siege, and a bunch of other titles.

So what is it really? Why do a lot people hate this guy?

A few questions about Wolverine

I'm a huge Wolverine fan and I have a few questions that I want answered. If anyone can answer them awesome.

  1. When did Wolverine become Death? He was captured by Apocalypse and was turned into Death. So I was wondering what issue, storyline, trade I can find this event happening.
  2. I keep hearing about a Wolverine story where he goes to Japan to meet up with his girlfriend or something. I think the people who made X-men Origins: Wolverine wanted to the story about when he went to Japan but didn't and I think they want to do it for the sequel or something. So when did this Japan story occur? Was it in this series?
  3. I heard in the latest issue of Wolverine, Wolverine issue 300 that Wolverine's daugthter makes an appearance. Who is his daughter?
  4. Is it me or does Wolverine go to Japan a lot because of some connection to one of his ex-girlfriends?
  5. This next question isn't necessarly Wolverine but he's kinda like Wolverine. Is Daken going to die? I heard his healing factor is kinda messed up cause of a drug. So what's going to happen to him when his old man confronts him?
  6. Might be on some peoples mind or the people who are keeping track of the upcoming event Avengers vs. X-Men, Which side will Wolverine choose? And if he chooses one side, will the other team kick him out? Like let's just say he goes with the Avengers, will he get kicked out of the X-Men and X-Force? Well if they do then they might end Wolverine and the X-Men.

Having Crossovers not involving the entire universe?

I know everyone is sick of crossovers by now but yesterday in the Supergirl article about how Superman and Supergirl’s relationship has changed, it got me thinking of one. Towards the end of the article it says that later on they're going to be a crossover involving Superman, Superboy and Supergirl. I think it be a nice break form all the big crossovers. Plus it would be nice for the three of them to meet in the New 52.

I was thinking earlier while I was reading War of the Green Lanterns, why doesn’t Marvel make some crossovers that involve some of the similar titles. War of the Green Lanterns had all the Green Lantern Titles involved during that time, and X-Men Second Coming had different crossovers involving various X-Men titles during that time. I know the Avengers and New Avengers are fighting Osborn right now so that might be considered a crossover. Plus Spider-Man, Daredevil and Black Cat are supposed to be involved into a new love triangle. The FF and Fantastic Four kind of have one going on right now with Johnny Storm returning from the grave dealing with an alien invasion.

I think it be cool for a crossover involving Spider-Man, Venom, and Scarlet Spider titles. The three of them can team up to kick some ass, or to kill each other. If they're going to do that they can throw in Anti-Venom and Black Cat into the mix. They could have done another Wolverine, Daken: Dark Wolverine, and X-23 crossover, if you count the Wolverine goes to Hell Storyline and the Collision involving Daken and X-23. They can do one with Captain and Winter Soldier and maybe another Hulk crossover. Or even a Secret Avengers and Uncanny X-Force titles since both teams are suppose to be top secret. Maybe Winter Soldier and Venom can do a crossover too. I know this kind of sounds lame right now with Avengers vs. X-Men coming out later this year but it’s just a thought.
