Working on a massive George Perez checklist gallery really drops into perspective just how amazing the man's art really is.

The Big List O' AiT/PlaNETLar

I'm trying something with this list that will hopefully, eventually get some more people interested in buying these graphic novels. AiT/PlaNETLar is one of the best publishing houses out there with an oeuvre that spans genres from children's fiction to superheroes to action and mystery. The publishers Larry Young and Mimi Rosenheim have discerning tastes in what they put their brand to, and it shows in the ever expanding list of creators that bring their talents to their house.

@cbishop: Back in the day before Matt Fraction became MATT FRACTION, he ran a comics webzine called SAVANT which I wrote (and edited) for. Larry Young, the publisher of AIT/Planet Lar wrote one of our long-running columns called True Facts. Larry and I always got along well (probably because we're both Harlan Ellison fans) and one Christmas as a thank you for years of really great in-depth reviews of his published catalogue, he sent me a copy of every book in the AIT/Planet Lar line. The man is a true mensch. That said, there are definitely some duds in the lineup and I was never a fan of the Sky Ape stuff. It doesn't get better as you go.

I rarely ever call something complete trash, but Sky Ape came danged close. Beautiful art, but the most non-sensical words on paper I've ever seen. "Words on paper," because I can't call it writing. Rubbish. I was mad that I'd spent my money on it. I bought "All the Heroes" much later, because I got it for really cheap, and it has a cameo by Battle Pope. The words were still pretty rubbish, but there was the barest thread of continuity from cameo-to-cameo. "Waiting for Crime" and "King of Girls" I didn't even know existed.
