First Lady in Red

I was astonished to see a photo of First Lady Michelle Obama at a recent function wearing an absolutely stunning red dress! Did she fire her fashion consultant and hire someone else...or is she just making better choices when looking at what that original consultant is showing her?  
 
I wonder if alleged revelations (allegations that MO said she hated her job) in First Lady Carla Bruni's book have compelled Michelle to adopt a more lady-like appearance.  
 
What do you think?

I disagree! I think she has moderated her appearance a great deal!  
 
I think that Carla shocked her to her senses, by pointing out her disrespect for the position of First Lady.

lol dang, riding the first lady hard i see? why do you hate her style so much? just the way she dresses. now i can see if she came out in some daisy dukes and a tank top.

Is that a diamond necklace? Her matching tiara must have fallen off.

Go to the first few posts on the "Michelle Obama's wardrobe" thread, where I originally posted the clown dress and a few other fashion faux-pas of MO. Next to her outfits are my alternates, which are far better suited for a First Lady.

Well, I think the color on the suit is loud and gawdy and the neckline exposes too much breast for a 45-year-old women. It's downright icky. 
 
The problems with the second one are obvious. 
 
The third one looks like a second-hand generic-type Halloween Costume bought at Goodwill. 
 
And the last one looks like a dishrag.

okay well for the dresses on the left side.  
 
the first one you can barely see any cleavage. i can barely even see her breast. the dress looks really nice and purple looks great on her. 
 
as for the second i agree it looks pretty bad. 
 
for the third it looks great on her, i really like the stripes at the bottom. the dress is simple and amazing at the same time.  
 
as for the last i really like the dress but the puff balls on it makes it look ridicoulous, but she makes it look great.

Michelle is not a 30-something gorgeous former super-model like Carla. She shouldn't be showing any cleavage at all.  
 
If she was still a run-of-the-mill lawyer, I'd give her a pass. But as First Lady of the United States of America, I don't want to see even a small portion of her boobs...just like I was never really fond of seeing my mother's breasts.

so because she's the first lady now she can't have her own fashion taste and she has to wear dull and boring bland clothes because of it now? why can't she have her own style instead of wearing clothes that look suited for a nun? even though she may be the first lady, she's still a human and a woman too, and should be able to have a say on what she wants to wear instead of going by the book even if others hate it. i could see if she were wearing slutty clothes but that's her taste.

No, she should wear tasteful elegant clothes. She should look like a lady...not an aging hippie.

She needs to go by the book. That's her job as First Lady. She doesn't get to write the rules. Until she gives herself a different title, she needs to dress the way We The People expect her to.

When she is no longer First Lady, she can dress and do whatever she wants.

There's no failure here. This thread started with my giving cudos to Michelle for making better wardrobe choices of late. 
 
I don't know who it was who put the bug in her ear...Carla perhaps...maybe even her husband...who knows? But I venture to guess that from now on, as long as Michelle is living in the White House, she will not be wearing low-cut suits anymore. Suits are business attire. If anyone is going to wear one, that person better be sure that he or she means business!
