You have to ask yourself why the comic book industry is being affected by piracy so much and why video games and movies are still keeping their head above water. I understand the economy isn't what it used to be, but people still pay for good and worthy entertainment. Comics are expensive nowadays, and 23 pages an issue is just not worth it. Especially with all the advertisements and 2 page art graphics. And the fact that most issues only come once a month. It takes animated shows 1 week to deliver a new episode each week, but for some reason most of the good comics are still riding on that monthly release. Not to mention how sloppy the writing has been lately, and how writers and artists change hands so frequently. Times are different and I understand many artists and writers have more than one project at a time, but if the industry wants to stay afloat they're going to have to step their game up. Somethings gotta give. People have to get invested in comics again, and if it takes a reboot to do so, then so be it. But it's going to take more than a costume change and a couple of tweaks to rise above unfortunately. The industry has to give in order to receive.

Am I the only one who thinks paying $2.99 for a book is a deal?

I read comic book reviews and previews. That is in fact one of the main reasons I come to Comic Vine, to educate myself on what books to buy. I listen to the recommendations of people whose opinions I trust like Sara and Tony. That way I get books I love, and I don't have to worry about wasting my money. And I absolutely believe my Secret Six, American Vampire, Wonder Woman, Detective Comics or Batman & Robin books is worth a measly three bucks. *shaking head*

$2.99 is a decent price given the quality of the paper used in comics vs. what they were using 20 + years ago

dmcomics said it best on Twitter: "Pirates are cool. We need to start calling them what they really are: thieves"

I don't think digital same day releases are the answer. People who are currently reading pirated comics will continue to do so because its free and they don't want to pay no matter if its a lower price. I think 90% of the people who read pirated comics are unaware of how it is hurting the industry. They could be putting the writers and the artists they love out of business.

@Moomin123: Cage is one of those actors who usually plays himself and not the character (See Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern). This does not work in comic book movies, except with maybe Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

I am really looking forward to more "Beyond" titles. Really like that Universe. Looking forward to whatever James Robinson is working on. Like you, I have heard that it is Shade. As long as it isn't anything mainstream superhero, I think it will be good. Not a big fan of his JLA run and he tends to do better with things like Starman.

@aztek the lost: If a book reached issue 1,000 without any continuity changes, reboots, relaunches, renumberings, etc. I could respect the achievement of such a long run. Renumbering back to 1,000 after a relaunch negates any achievement the numbering might have because its meaning less if 900 of those issues don't matter in current continuity. As you said, any move back would be a gimmick and probably a sales one. If they resort to that it will just mean the relaunch has failed.

@roboticjesus: Love how youre doing the exact thing ive been doing on my blog since the relaunch has been announced. And yes, I have everything on my DC Relaunch Update. This is kind of copying mine. Except mine is more about information. And yours is well written.

That's a bit of a back handed compliment, but I can take it. Will give your blog a read.

The Baltimore/Washington DC Roadshow Event seemed like a rehash of the New York one, so probably not going to blog about the relaunch for awhile unless anything new comes out this week. Working on a series of blogs now on comic shops, online retailers and marketing.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have been getting most of my info from Bleed Cool. They had a great story which The Dark Huntress put a link to already. I usually read a couple different articles that talk about the events, as well as tweets from people that were there. I try to summarize a consensus of what everyone said was talked about the best I can and add in a few of my own comments to it. Usually try to highlight the parts that are most important to me as a reader because I figure they will be important to other readers as well. The Examiner also has a good write up about it.
