Seven Is Usually My Lucky Number 0

This issue I'm not sure what they were going with. I mean Conan saves a chick but she's mean and petty. I know Roy Thomas can write better than this. Maybe it;s the whole sword and sorcery thing. This story just read long. I fel if a story does that than it doesn't work for me. I was astonished it took me twice as long toread this  and it has less words than other Conan issues I have reviewed. Ok so we know the monster is a serpent and it killed the people it needed to that deserved it. I don't ...

Not too Bad 0

This issue was plotted from a poem. I havn't read it . I am interested in it now. So of course Conan is on his wide adventure and is hired by the village to take out the tyrant. So like Dog the bounty hunter Conan takes the job. A story filled with dead demons and Immortal beings . This is what sword and sorcery stories are about. I know he was before Thundarr but this feels like a Thundarr story to me as well. I'm not sure of what the market is like for Conan's stuff but I truly think you shoul...

I've Never Seen A Green Elephant Fly 0

What can I say about this issue. Aliens and swords weird concept here. Conan wants a jewel and goes after it. I'm not sure how long the written story is but this seems like a condensed version of it. I mean here we are  at an inn and then we are at the tower and bam Conan is inside and listes to the elephant andkills him and does his bidding. An d then it's done ok. Roy did an ok and Barry's art seemsrushed and busied. If you like this story collect or read this I think for me too much going on ...

Wow 0

I really enjoy this story adaption . I mean it miight be standard barbarian story but I'm intrigued. This makes me want to find some Conan books written by Robert E. Howard. The writing and pacing and the art of course Barry Windsor Smith is a great artist and ARoy Thomas is in my mind top 20 all time writers. If for no other reason find this back issue I truly believe this is one of the best Conan stories and should be in anyones collection if you can find it....

Usual Type Of Story 0

Not bad just usual story. Our hero is ambused and is locked away to be a slave . The lead slave guy isfirst to say things but when he talks to the hero he is reluctant to hear him out about leading a  band so they can be free. The poor guy says "no bloddshed" . Then after seeing the hero stand up more THEN the guy takes action so his people may be free. Just average other than being a second issue I see only the die hard Conan fans would want this one . I mean unless you like Conan and the only ...

Savage? 0

This being the first issue it wasn't that bad. Sometimes words drag on and action is non existant. This one however is fine. Roy Thomas writing is super her and Barry Smith's art  fits well. I hate to repeat myself but when art mixes well with the story it really works and I truley believe the 70's and 80's writers and artists blended so well together now today you get teams that last for 6-12 issues maybe not much longer. The issue introduces up to Conan and a vision of him being a king during ...

Part Of A Trilogy 0

This issue of course was made when Dc and comics were printing 4-5 million copies and everyone thought of buying 2 issues or more you know 1 to read and 2 or more for college funds. This is part of what i call the trilogy of Superman Death/Without/Return.I'm not up to speed with this arc. I have Death and Return in tradesNot bad those stories aren't.This single issue though I believe was needed . It shows our heroes trying the best they can do to get on without Supes. I also think back to that wo...

Lost In Translation 0

A few things were lost to me on this ne. When did Amethyst loose her sight and why? What is the point of Carnelian aka Carl who is killed in this issue. It appears that the creators just lost and gave up hope. I believe the last 2 issues DC launched like them as quartely's or every 2 months I think I can't remember. Anyways after reading the issues I have and not knowing the wholeseries I am rather in some way want to know all the how's and why's just to get a better understanding of this charac...

An Average Fight 0

This is right after the fantastic story of Snake-Eyes origin. This just lead up to an all out battle between the Joes and Cobra. More action less story really. Don't get me wrong I know the GI Joe comics is battles in weapons against Cobra and or Dreadnots or whatever. This issue was a battle climax to a ho hum buildup. Not that I'm not a Joe fan I am. I remember picking up my first G.I.Joe comic I was 7 and went with my grandparents to pick up a bearded colloie with them it was issue number 2. ...

Nice 0

This is the second part to Snake-eyes origin. Larry Hama knows and created a nice back story for Snake Eyes and Scarlett and Storm Shadow. This is definatly one of the best stories in the original G.I.Joe run.Not much to add to this as I summed up my review in the previous issue. Collect and get these issues these are what we Joe fans loved about the history Hama knows how to write....

Well Worth It 0

This is just one of the reasons us 80's kids love GI Joe. Mr. Hama can write well meaningful stories. This mythology and history he wrote for this series is well regarded. We love Snake-eyes and Hama made him a story well built and still needing answers to questions yet unlike in Wolverine where Marvel decided to give us an definitive origin here its clearly shown less is more . I don't want to know all about Snake give me enough to know and we'll leave it at that. The art and story blend so wel...

A New Chapter 0

It is revealed that the ancient ones aka demons want their realm back. They really want it bad and through lies and trickery  it almost comes to fruition. This one is now making more sence. Is it a step in the right direction. I don't know I only have issue 14 left to read from what I have. I am really interested in knowing where thisw might go and maybe lead to. I think DC needs to collect this for history sake. The back issue market I''m not sure of is there enough out there for people to get ...

Epic 0

What can I say. I wasn't impressed by issue 2 and 3 but not having the others to go on after them I had no idea what was happening. This issue definatly is the payoff. Surprises and heroes to go around. Gemworld reborn . The art is good and the story I am blown away with. This is the reason people read comics because of stories like this. I always thought this comic was for girls however it is really made for everybody in a way thanks to books like Elfquest being made. Not at all bad not hokey e...

Say What? 0

So after this issue it seams more like a chick sorcery hearts and flowers type boo. Ok Amethyst is upset at not being a 13 year old on earth but Gemworld is ruled like monarchies and people are betraying her and she hates being there what the hell? No wonder we wonder about little girls who think they are fat or not pretty or whatever. They share the same as Amethyst self concious. Get over it. The maxi-series was written well. The main series well tapers off not really interested in how this al...

More Jewels UGH 0

This is the second issue of the regular series. It introduces to me Fire Jade ok green fire no problem and she wants to rule another evil tyrants land. Isn't there a law about that in comic code some law . Anyways we also get Amy sleeping and Amethyst in Gemworld. HUH? So this one also has the Gemworld leaders or is that GEMS? Meeting to make peace and rules and they can't do that either. Mo money mo problems. Not sure what or the ideas or tones for the regular series is or the whys the guys tho...

Too Much Too Little 0

This issue we know the last issue is coming. However there was to me too much action and too much going by. I mean couldn't we have more revelations to explain it all for everyone to figure out the what's and the why's. That being said . nI wish I had more of this maybe i will down the road to understand this. This has really surprised me. I thought this would be hearts and flowers but I am really surprised  that they made Amethyst to be a strong female charachter . Not like todays women with bi...

A Revival or Trade Would Be nice 0

I don't have mny issues of this initial maxi-series. I would like to say despite this being somewhat girly this isn't that bad of a comic. I believe the title miscontudes what this is. Ok it's another dimension based on gems but it was created by guys and the whole world is based on sorcery and magic which is pretty cool. It's too bad this title didn't get a fair shake. I wonder if Dan Didio would consider giving this a reboot. Of couurse though it might be tied in with Green Lantern considering ...

Standard Marvel Material 0

This of course is the last issue of this miniseries. This is the lead in to the end  of the alternate reality story. You think it has to end nope Marvel hookes you in to get the last book . I mean of course Bishop is saved but the main person Apocalypse and Magneto were never in this at all. Is the some reason we should be on this band wagon in the long run grand schemes did anything hurt or tie into the  main reality? Other than to sell anything with X in the title there is none I can think of ...

Girly Comics Not Bad 0

I always heard of this title. But when I got a chance to save a box of comics fromm my grandparents garage there wre some of these in there. I'm glad i picked and read this. Not quite girly but it has enough sorcery and magic that I believe the Sci-Fi channel could make a mini series out of. I wish I had the first two issues maybe then this might make more sense. Guys this isn't that girly of a comic after all just give this a shot....

Batastic Read 0

This is why graphics and trades need to be published. Whether it's the $50 hardcover or these that reprints stories at in reasonable price it works. You get the history and incarnations and people's take on Batman. You get the grim late30's to the cheesy 50's and back to the dark era we still have now. The stories that were picked I feel are the best of the best. However the Joker has his own book too. That's where we will see more of him which is fine. I wish the would do more like that you kno...

Magneto vs. Apocalypse 0

While its been a while fear not RK is back had some issues that needed to be addressed. This is the third issue of this What If? timeline/story. Magneto is in the rain talking to Xavier's grave of course Apocalyse attacks with a big fight which is well written but then in the middle a pause and the X-men return and find Magneto and Nanny and little Charles Lensherrall gone. Quicksilver goes to Angel for answers. and everything is coming close to an end and conclusion. Not too bad of a read a litt...

Eh 0

this is issue 2 of this time altering event or basically a what if event. These were always good sells back then and continue to do so with other story lines like Flashpoint . This continues where issue 1 left off. X-men battling Abyss and Sentinels while trying to help humans out of north america. Not really happy about this one a lot of action and a lot of dialogue it's just messy....

ge Of Craptitude 0

This came from a storyline that was thought of for the awesome cartoon from the 90's . This however came as a result of Proffesor X's crazy son killing him and Apocalypse is the ruler of north america?HUH? Don't get me wrong the ideas that every book was alternated fior 4 months with various simple plans for each book, like saving humans or going after a crystal seemed ok then now it's just hokey. Now at the time Nicieza could do no wrong even beng a pitchman for comics at QVC but now you can see...

Aunt May In The Park 0

This one I found at one of those Follar trees. They have 2 comics and a trading card. Mostly G.I. Joe cards I have some Return O f The Jedi cards too. Nonetheless this issue i justreread. Not that bad. It's just Aunt May sitting in the park talking and recapping . I think this is a new jump start for new or returning readers. Here Spidey takes on the Shaker and May well she's buying a cell phone. So the whole story is Petefighting Shaker and May telling Ben and Pete's parents grave that he is Sp...

Lee and Romita= Yankees 0

I have already reviewed every issue reprinted in this book. Good news we get the beginning of the Kingpin . We also get the beginning of Pete and Gwen Stacy's love. The book I have is hardcover variant cover which I got shrinkwrapped from a seller on bay. The other thing I love about my copy, I took it to Detroit fanfare in October 2010 signed by Stan Lee himself. Visually this book kicks ass. Again it's history of Spidey why not shell out some bucks for this....

Amazing For The Most Part 0

Ok I have already reviewed each issue except Amazing Fantasy 15 since it was just Spidey's story. I did feel my volume of this in the reprint edition as is any volume or printing is worth spending the money on. You get crisp colors Stan's writing, Ditko's artwork. You get the beginning of our web slinger. You get Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Vulture , You get Peter Parker J.Jonah Jameson and Flash Thompson and Betty brant . Definatly good for history pick this up today...

Another Hero Cliche 0

Ok so a lot happens. Spidey goes back to da club. He looks at the destroyed brainwashing machine. It has Osborn's name on it. However in this mess the girl he loves and her father are both kidnapped and in a pickle at the same place. Thank the writing for that and the Kingpin too. Of course Normon Osborn is trying to remember why the Green Goblin spooks him. Stan of course writes good stories. Romita's art is awesome. I think this was a rut they were in at this time. I mean after all this and th...

A Boy is In Love 0

Ok this wasn't too bad an ish maybe a little hokey in some ways but then again this is a comic book story. So Spidey destroys the machine but after Capt. Stacy has been brainwashed (what irony). Plus he gets double vision not the song sung by Foreigner. So he goes to sleep it off and while dreaming he discovers that he loves Gwen Stacy (badly portrayed in the movie). So he goes over to visit the Stacy's but discovers something is not right with the Capt. However he accidentally hits him.Sso he fol...

A Quick Return For a Villian 0

This issue we get mostly Peter. He goes to visit his aunt and friends so they know he's alright.Meanwhile Mary Jane begins her career as a gogo dancer and takes pictures for people whose tables have stars on them. She does not suspect the shots help confuse people and another machine helps to brainwash them. Little do we know till the last panel the man behind this scheme is the Kingpin. Okay this was easy to read it's mostly a Peter issue getting back to his supporting cast. Just a quick breath...

From 1 Fight To Another 0

Not crazy about this issue. After Zabu beat him and Ka--zar picked him up , Spidey finally recovers from his amnesia? Say what!? Only in comic books. So Spidey tell Ka-zar and he believes him. J. Jonah Jameson gets a call from Smythe about his SSpider Slayer robot and of course JJJ has to play with it because he hates the wall-crawler.After this wouldn't you think that peter would have had enough and decided to kick JJJ's butt ? Personally boss or noboss anyone who attacks me is an enemy whether...

Marvel Is Where Our Hereos Fight 0

Okay this issue was fun. We get amesiatic Spidey and we get Marvel's answer to Tarzan, Ka-Zar. Ka-zar comes into to NY but it's not really stated why he is there( It's assumed that J.Jonah Jameson wanted him there but not proven). Jameson gets to Ka=zar's suite and appeals to the lord of the jungle who will go and hunt down our wall-crawler. Meanwhile Aunt May over does it again worrying about Peter and she collapses for the billionth time.. Eventually of course Ka-zar finds Spidey and he and hi...

The Government Is The Hero This Issue 0

Chalk this one to good old Stan's writing. Spidey has amnsia and is coerced into a brief life of crime thanks to Dr. Octopus. Even though they work together for a short while Spidey's insides are trying to tell him not to obey. Along the way he does some "heroic" things subliminally. He left a map at the army base and every type of government looking to retrieve the nullifer is there. Of course amnesiatic Spidey has it up to here with tentacle boy and another fight. However at this point the arm...

And I Thought Venom Was Tough 0

So we begin this issue with a very vindictive Spidey. Or is it a case of Spidey pmsing (sorry ladies). So he goes on a witch hunt for Doc Ock. Who is hidden somewhere else while Spidey fights henchmen after henchmen. We then see John Jameson in a meeting   describing plans to take the nullifer to Stark Industries. Plan backfires because Doc has a spy in there and of course it leads to Doc getting the nullifer and Spidey getting hammered by the nullifer which causes him to not know who he is. What...

A Debut Of A Core Character 0

As we left off Doc Ock is about to become Aunt May's boarder. Of course she asks him and he says a few words. I find this funny imagine if he had known Peter is Spider-man she'd believe anything I tell you the old woman is senile or too trust worthy take your pick. We also see Pete go to the Bugle and we meet Robbie Robertson a great character to Pete's system.Of course Doc Ock sends his men after Spidey and he beats them only to fight Doc and Aunt May lifeless for the billionth time and all Pet...

Doc Ock Room Boarder E.S.(Evil Scientist) 0

So after handling the Kingpin a tie in their fight(no one won) Spidey is seen outside The Daily Bugle reading the paper. He gets in a war of words with J. Jonah Jameson and then heads off for class. As Peter he gets to go with his professer and Gwen Stacy to science exhibit. There is the return of Doctor Octapus. Of course there is going to be a fight. What's interesting about this is to hide out Doc boards at Aunt Mays house. Of course more twists and more problems this is what is so appealing a...

Only An Annual Has This Type Of Schlock 0

Ok we get for this Spidey and Human Torch fight because Spidey is a nitwit. Ok maybe he didn't heed his spider sense because it did not go off. So of course Spidey takes pictures and then a movie studio "want" both heroes. It was a nice idea that Stan and the crew of Spider-man and His Amazing friends took from, also used Mysterio for that one too. Artwork done by Larry Lieber you know Stan's brother whose ok  but they wanted us to wait till the end to know who drew it. The story and the pace wa...

The Final Nail In The Coffin 0

Well it's finally here in my hands. The last issue of this series. I still need to track down #14. So as we go i always write this as I go.We get 2 series in the book. Both 8 pages of Count Dracula which is about the Count right before Bram Stroker's book . 8 pages of Dracula 2199 which is about Dracula resurrected in the future and taking on sciientists who rule the world. We also get 8 pages of Bernie Wrightson's unused Frankenstein art. Both stories written by Rickey ShanklinCount Dracula - L...

Another Classic From Lee and Ditko 0

The cover is awesome shows J.Jonah Jameson with a worried face just for once. This continues the first meeting we get of the Kingpin (of crime) . We see Spidey and Jameson trapped for their lives with the save. Also a hero makes another save and pays forit with his life. The story is well paced again and doesn't seem to fast or too slow.Spidey fights Kingpin again only this time Kingpin flees. Spidey then goes back to help Jameson and Foswell but is late to save one of them. Not quite up tppar as...

Lee and Romita Are A Team 0

This issue we are still getting to know The Kingpin. He wants to organize crime and he tries and tries and does a better job than anyone else had at this point. We also get the team of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. As a team they packed so much into this story and the characterization does not suffer from it.Of course repetitive story cliche but this time it really works. This is also a point in time where Peter quits as Spidey just for a bit. Nothing suffers in this the story does not seemed rus...

A Mystery Story 0

This issue is definatly a decent story. We meet The Big Man who is he?  We don't get an origin as to why he did it. We get the guy to organize all crime (how many times does Marvel do this).Of course crime runs rampant. Meanwhile Aunt May recovers from her sugery and blood transplant from Peter (did they do a What If to this?). Of course she goes on a vaction  with the neigbors(kinky if you ask me). Peter works on the crime and runs into the Enforcers who beat him up only to beat them later in t...
