I think the huge thing to take away from this is the story that's being built up. 
 
If Colbert doesn't take the role, if it were offered to him, then he wins. He will have built it up so much if it gets to that point, and then spin it and end up blaming somebody at Warner Bros. for "not getting the role" and he will have it be just another part of his bit.  
 
If he takes a role like that, expectations would be so very high that he'd never live up to them, regardless of how well he would play the Riddler.  
 
Best thing for him to do is juice this ripe rumor for all its worth and then spin it into an on-going joke that he can tap into later. 
 
Plus, his hands are full with Tek Jansen :)

It might be tough getting Colbert to fit in the very dark Gotham the Batman movies have recently portrayed. Could work though, I'm sure he could be pretty creepy if he tried. For some reason, though, I'm really seeing Paul Bettany in the role. I think he'd fit perfectly. His role in Gangster #1 really sold me on him being crazy.

Channing Tatum should be locked away for his terrible acting. Best (being generous with that word for this movie) parts were Sienna Miller and Snake Eyes. That's about it. And the Black Hawk Down footage is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it's when their in East Africa, when Duke (that was his name, right?) and Rex were together. Also, the CG was terrible. It was like I was watching Mortal Kombat the movie. Starship Troopers had better CG. The explosion stunts made it blatantly obvious that they were on wires. It's a "fun" movie and I suppose worth the $6, but overall, it was mediocre-at-best from start to finish.
