With all this talk about the Green Lantern film, Geoff Johns signing on as producer of a Flash film, it got me thinking about who should play who in a Justice League of America film, if it ever comes to fruition.
Superman: Brandon Routh did a great job as Superman, in my opinion. I think he should reprise the role. I think he's young enough to fit in to the rest of the sure-to-be youthful cast. My second choice, if DC wants to make a dramatic shift in the character, is to try Jon Hamm in the role. I think that'd be very interesting to see.
Batman: No point in arguing against Christian Bale, he's done a great job in the role.
Lex Luthor: Grieg - In the Hall of the Mountain King
Flash: Saint-Saens: Aquarium (a slower song, I think a slower song is more fitting for Flash for some reason. From his point of view, I'd imagine there is no sound at that speed, or nothing clear at least, and there's something elegant and fragile to his power. That's why I chose that song.) *You may know the song as the Benjamin Button trailer theme.
I think it'd be really cool if Hulk was in the movie, but only briefly, and distant. I think these movies need to begin casting other superheroes/villains in a broader dialogue on the Marvel universe. For instance, I think it'd be great if Iron Man was flying over Central Park to get to an incident somewhere with a villain, and he looks down and sees Hulk fighting off villains/Army (depending on whether Hulk will be portrayed as an enemy in IM2).
I think this is a VERY cool choice for the villain. After I saw Basterds I walked out and told my friends "God, I really hated that fu****"!" and that's rare in a movie, for an actor to so fully become villainous that you truly hate the man. Impressive work. The only other time I felt that, interestingly enough, was with Ralph Fiennes character in Schindler's List. I look forward to how Waltz handles this character. Who is the villain going to be, anyway? Any one from the comics?
