Told You So

Doesn't really matter since new readers are going to be reading current comics, not old comics and they never really need to worry about anything but new-earth, right?
Anyways, a friend of mine told me he liked marvel more because its characters are less generic in terms of superpowers and attitude which leads to what he called "a more layered story". Personally i like DC more, i think that the bat family and their relations to each other are particularly interesting.

@ReVamp:

That really depends on the individual reader. New-earth is not the FINAL DC earth just the current one. It's safe to say that eventually the next "Crisis-cycle" will reboot this reality too.

I felt like going to the very last part of my inbox, to see what the very first PM I received was. I mean, I wasn't expecting much, put I wanted to know. Funnily enough, the very first PM I got was from an user (who is kind of well known) and we just happened to be discussing about the differences between DC comics and Marvel (I think that was what it was). Somewhere along the arguments someone must've said that it is easier to get into Marvel, which is true, but somehow it got to DC comics. Someone said that DC was complicated because of all the crisis (plural I think?) and I'm like Hell Naw, what the hell are you on? He said that the then current DC universe was not the going to remain the same way and there would be a next "Crisis cycle". I didn't disagree, in fact I agreed but mentioned that it was most probably to only happen in 30 or 50 years, long before our time as comic book readers.

Flash Forward 9 months or more and I think that I have to admit, he was pretty much right. Hurrah for him. You get to say "I Told You So"...

A hollow Victory I'm sure.

I had a hard time getting into anything DC aside from the Bat-books when I started so I generally agree.

Yeah, its not easy. Still, I was more trying to go for a "I was absolutely wrong vibe" since I do agree that DC was kind of hard to get into. Marvel wasn't much better, but... That's for a different blog.

You didn't tell me anything :P

Well it is a strategy that DC frequently uses. But I don't really think that Marvel is really that more accessible than DC. If someone really wants to get into DC, he will.

I didn't... Wait... whut?

But yeah, though its not all that recent, the last time something of this scale happened was in COIE. The others were just retcon galore.

I've always been a Marvel fan over DC, but I'm slowly trying to get more into Dc and this New 52 has not disappointed yet.

It was a play on the title :P

Even though your friend has a point, DC is still accessible. For example, I didn't start comics up until a few years. Because I didn't know a lot of things, I went through the internet and got informed. Sure it was somewhat confusing at first, you know with all that Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis stuff but I eventually caught up to things and could read comics with no problem.

Oh, Okay.

I think you misunderstood, the person who I quoted didn't say DC was less acessible. Others in the thread did. But yeah, I feel you.

DCnU, is actually quite a good idea. Its working well...

@ReVamp:Yeah maybe. Well let's see if this is successful because if it isn't, I could see DC returning things to the way they were.

I can't really. With the Batman and GL things staying cannon, I see this as going to stay.
