X-Factor. I wish she would take a lead role

Me too! I really want more of the M, Banshee, Rictor, Wolfsbane, and Shatterstar dynamic than yet more Madrox. I never want any Longshot.

Difficult question!

I still think the Jubilee/M relationship is one of my favorite clashing of personalities ever, but Gen X also left her nearly unusable after the horrendous Nicole/Claudette/Penance fiasco. I liked her stoic snark, her mysterious black outs, and overall enigmatic confidence.

Despite shoving her into relationships with X-Factor's premiere losers (a dupe, Darwin and Strong Guy), PAD's return to the X-Books had her overcoming a bumpy road with Siryn early on while also giving her a cute sibling-like relationship with Rictor. She's far more aggressive in this series than passive-aggressive and has shown her softer side on multiple occasions. She's just been the hilarious highlight of the series and in many ways her relationship with Wolfsbane is a lot like hers with Jubilee (although Rahne never takes it there and is thus less fun).

....

Both.

Yeah, I definitely don't want:

a) Rogue and Gambit getting back together

b) A simple end to the Schism

c) Rogue getting super-strength again

d) Magneto becoming a villain.

I feel like those are cheap avenues to return to an old and tired status quo.

I also don't want to see Hellion becoming a "good guy". It goes against his character. He hasn't been a nice kid since he was starting to soften from his relationship with Sofia. He's a jerk 90% of the time. I don't want to see him, in a typical redemptive story arc, become a contrived superhero. I could only accept it with Sofia in tow.

I could use Jubilee out of her Twilight phase because that hasn't really gone anywhere for me. Its a big development with little to no play off.

Fall of Avalon, featuring the best Acolyte story (and my favorite Cyclops story) ever as Cyclops leads Scanner, Frenzy, Unuscione, and the Kleinstocks through the Australian Outback.

OZT should've been epic. Lobdell's X-Men was great, but if only Joe Kelly stepped in sooner I think that would've been a defining point in X-Men comics.

Man, I think Teen Titans can be such a tacky book with awful costumes and annoying faux-bad asses, but characters like Bunker and especially Soltice are making this book so oddly refreshing, fun, and worth rooting for. Sure, there is Pixie and formerly Jubilee, but its nice to see sweet characters that don't have to have bright pink hair or big yellow raincoats to drive home the point.

Glad DC52 brought them to this title. Oddly enough my other DC titles are grimey ones like Batman & Robin, Batwoman, and Justice League Dark, but this one is starting to get me a bit more hooked than the rest.

I think they are, or at least are more compelling thinking of them that way.

I wish there would be a minimalization of animal-humanoid mutants though to not open that can of worms.

  • The characters you think are most useless. Iceman, the majority of the New X-Men, Colossus
  • The characters you think are most poorly conceived. Iceman, Domino, body swap Psylocke, alternate reality characters, Longshot, X-23

I think the X-Men emerged as a franchise with such a rich, diverse supporting cast to one that has proliferated into an overpopulated mess of redundant characters.

I largely blame that on a series that I loved, New X-Men: Academy X. There are so many duplicate powersets and personalities in that series. I wouldn't mind it, but the X-Verse hasn't gotten rid of the originals yet (which I am not opposed to).

The X-Verse has been full of shallow cameo queening that it does not feel special and interconnected due to thoughtful relationships, but a blurred mess of power effects and disjointed or non-existent character dynamics.

In a perfect world...

  • Kitty Pryde would have higher standards.
  • The X-Men would be cornered into living in something fitting of the hated and feared (barren mansion and Fortress X come to mind), not of the rich and famous.
  • Iceman would come out of the closet.
  • The X-Writers would stop rehashing tired and burdensome relationships like Rogue/Gambit and Kitty/Colossus.
  • Psylocke would stop being a racist insult.
  • Jubilee, Marrow, Wind Dancer, and Angel Salvadore would get their powers back.
  • Something would be done about stagnant characters with lifeless character arcs (who maintain recurring roles) like Northstar.
  • Quicksilver would replace Longshot, Layla Miller, and Pip on X-Factor and have the book keep a tighter focus on the great dynamic that still exists within the group.
  • Alternate reality characters and non-mutant members would be kept to a minimum.
