@silverrings: Panther doesn't have any amps as King of the Dead, but he does have gear which he used to hurt Namor that I thought could play a part here.
I wish Hickman would make up his mind about Panther's abilities.
Not even. Will don't look the part. The guy they chose actually was a great choice appearance wise.
It's just
1) Wtf is Black Panther
2) Obviously it's Marvel making a diverse film. He was created to draw in urban,*black* readers. Problem is if I walk outside and ask if you know black panther they'll think I'm talking bout the movement.
3) Thereare people in the country who won't watch it for that reason alone. Others because he's "black".
4) The other reasons fall under less exposure yadayada.
Of course it'll sell. It's a Marvel movie, and the franchise has been successful at doing what they do. But selling in comparison to let's say Thor? Picked Thor to give it the benefit of doubt. See Captain Marvel is tapping into that "Women Rock!" + Marvel humor blood.
I was kidding about the Will Smith thing. But I was serious about not being sold on Boseman. I really hope the movie does well. I also thought about people not going to see the movie because of "The Black Panther Party".
