1.) I would have Kryptonians be the peak of natural evolution... Perfect, non-cosmic beings... Which would explain why they are so unique that just a little bit of yellow sun makes them into some of the most powerful beings in the universe. I would also explain that Human Beings are the closest species in the universe capable of reaching Kryptonian levels of perfection after a few hundred million more years of evolution. They're basically on the same exact path.
This would explain a lot:
- Why Jor'El chose Earth to send his son.
- Why Kryptonians and human look so much alike.
- Why Humans are so readily capable of receiving super powers (explaining the other heroes).
- Why aliens like Darkseid and Brainiac give a crap about Earth so much.
Among other things.
2.) I would also emphasize his bioelectric aura more often... I feel like they don't talk about it enough, which is why people are still confused by how his powers work. It explains his tremendous strength, invulnerability, flight, super speed, heat vision, and everything else.
3.) Clark Kent and Superman will not have the same friends... No Jimmy Olsen is Superman's Pal, but also Clark Kent's Pal, and no Lois Lane is both Superman's Girlfriend, and Clark Kents partner... Superman would interact with these people in the same way the Flash does in the CW, which is moving really fast, distorting his voice, and never letting them get a good look at him. I mean, at this point, Lois either knows who Superman is which takes away the classic dynamic, or is an idiot. I find this to be the solution. He saves Lois, but it doesn't mean he has to stand their and pose with her afterward.
4.) Kryptonite would be dangerous to everybody. Not a cancer causing long period of exposure, like it is now, but an almost instant feeling of sickness... It just effects Superman worse because of his body's natural dry-sponge-like absorption of radiation, and also it having a way of turning his bioelectric aura against him.
5.) Red Sun radiation does not hurt him, it just eliminates his bioelectric aura, which doesn't make him human, but instead simply means he has to use his own natural strength and durability without a means to fly or any other fantastic powers. He's still, however, significantly stronger than the average person (a little less than Golden Age levels).
6.) I would stop using the term "weak to magic" and replace it much more prominently with "vulnerable to magic" as in his bioelectric aura does not protect him from being turned into a duck or something... Doesn't mean he can't punch Harry Potter in the head faster than Harry can figure out whether it's Levi-OH-sa or Levi-o-SAH...
7.) HE WOULD HAVE POTENTIALLY LIMITLESS STRENGTH, and his bioelectric aura would explain it. He doesn't physically get stronger, but his aura does.
9.) At least one of his parents are alive, preferably both. Doesn't really matter, though.
This is just part 1... I would imagine all of these are already somewhere within the Superman cannon, I just would emphasize them more readily to simplify him for people that don't read comics.
