@comicstooge: That's what I said. It's because he's more popular than them, while being more hated. They can say anything they want about him, and it makes them more popular. It's why people think Rousey, who, unlike Kurt and others, is actually smaller than Floyd as well as being a women, will beat Floyd. It's because they WANT to believe that she will, whether it's true or not. The irony of Floyd, who famously hit women before, losing to a woman in a fight is much juicier than what would likely be the reality.

UFC knows this, so they promote it

@comicstooge:

Are you serious? Angle's not only an Olympian, but a gold medalist at that. A low ankle pick would drop Floyd. This isn't Rousey, where she relies on the clinch to get takedowns. Angle's an elite wrestler, probably better than anyone who's ever been in the UFC.

If Couture could do it, Angle could do it with his eyes closed. Add to that the fact that he's a lot, lot heavier.

You HAVE seen Floyd fight, right?

No. We've seen him in sporting matches. :)

I'm totally not fool hardy enough to think Floyd would beat Kurt in a fight, but I still have to address anytime someone makes the Couture/Toney comparison in regard to a boxer vs MMA fighter comparison.

Toney was a 40+ year old, out of shape, out of prime, has been by the time he fought Couture. Floyd stays in shape all year round.

Notice how fat Toney is. He's actually a career 168lber. The only reason why he's a heavyweight now is because he's old and lazy. Also notice how flat-footed Toney is, when Randy shoots on him, he doesn't move at all. I can understand not knowing how to sprawl, but his feet were in cement. That wouldn't be the case with Floyd.

Now I know Couture was also old and out of his prime too, but he was at least still in fighting shape. Toney, even in his prime, was famous for not being in shape for some of his fights, it being the reason he lost otherwise winnable fights.

Toney's also notorious for being extremely proud. He likely came into that fight wanting to box with Couture and knock him out, doing the absolute minimal grappling training.

Taking all those factors in mind, this was just perfect marketing by the UFC to stamp one of their biggest selling points into the minds of the fans "Boxing is limited, we can do everything". They took an out of shape "pure boxer" (allowed Joe Rogan to call him "One of the best pure boxers of all time" during the build up) and sold him as a legitimate representative of boxing... Bull---Shit

It's why Ronda and McGreggor can't keep Floyd's name out their mouths...

Like I said in the Floyd vs Ronda thread, a lot of lower level boxers would be much better off in an MMA fight than Floyd.

@redatom1234: I'm not talking about comicvine, I'm talking talking about actual boxing forums. Not even sports forums cause I don't like other sports other than combat sports. This is a boxing forum with boxing fans and experts, and I never heard anyone making those jokes.

I've also boxed, and wrestled, and done MMA... I honestly don't find any of your assessments accurate. Whether it's footwork or hand speed, Pacquiao is nothing like Rousey stylistically, so whatever he was able to do against Floyd is irrelevant in regard to this topic.

Dropping your hands actually has benefits, which you should have learned in your boxing training. It's obviously not beneficial for beginners and less talented fighters, but that hardly describes Floyd now does it. For one, it makes your jab harder to see, thus harder to defend. Obviously you need hand speed to pull this off, which Floyd of course does. It also makes your upper body movement more fluid, which, if you can pull it off, is more effective than blocking punches. And finally it baits your opponent into a false sense of security, and makes your much harder to hit head a more juicy target than the obviously easy to hit body. One of Floyds most commonly used attacks is called a pull counter... Look it up, it's awesome.

Again, unless she manages to get ahold of him, all I see is her getting knocked out on her way in. One way or the other this fight won't go past the first round

You're too vague for me to address any of your other points.

@JBBuc: Well if not Ronda, then why not Julia Stiles. Ronda could be the stunt double

@redatom1234: I'm on boxing forums all day and have not heard backed into a corner jokes... Also Floyd getting backed into corners was because of Manny's footwork, not because he was tired... Also dropping his hands was just him being cocky, Muhammad Ali did the same thing...

If you're talking about her using low kicks to wear him down, that's fair, but that'll only work for so long, and she's not exactly known for her leg kicking prowess.

This one just isn't fair... Kurt is a heavyweight gold medal wrestler... Why is this even a question?

@redatom1234: What?? Manny missed the vast majority of his punches. Floyd never got tired in that fight, and why would he considering the two of them barely engaged. The later the fight, the more one-sided it became in favor of Floyd... No idea what you're talking about...

Also, in regard to Rousey, how could she wear Floyd down? She has no chance standing up... She could wear him down on the ground, that's for sure, but standing up she would just get picked apart and eaten alive and knocked out like the OP says

@redatom1234: No... Those things have nothing to do with one another. Pacquiao in a boxing match and Ronda in a street fight/Pride fight do not pose the same problems for Floyd
