The Dean of the Department of Criminal Justice Studies at the Marston Academy and coach of the school's fencing team, Prof. Whitley Kincaid-Foster never gave a break to her most promising student, Katsumi Toriyama. When she started acting suspicious, Katsumi followed her and found evidence of criminal activity. Whitley used her expertise to evade the police, but her student found her out and attacked her; Whitley almost killed Katsumi in sword combat, but Wonder Woman stopped the professor. She was handed over to the authorities, but since all of the evidence was destroyed she was released. Whitley met the Witchqueen Circe, who gave her two magic weapons, which transformed her into the Adjudicator, so she could take revenge against Wonder Woman and Katsumi, who she didn't know is really Wondergirl Troia.
At the theme park Colonial Times, Ben Lockwood was part of the entertainment. After a string of devastating events, he gave up on life and was about to end it all when he saw someone whose life was in danger. Wearing the same costume, he sprang into action and saved the woman. In the process, Lockwood also stopped an attempted terrorist attack on the theme park. Getting an enormous rush from the event, he got a new lease on life and became the hero Agent Liberty. Not long after, he gathered people from his old job who wanted to join his cause, forming the Sons of Liberty. The woman Ben saved at Colonial Times was Belle Garrick. Her Liberty Belle costume is (subliminally) in honor of him.
Atsuo Sakanoue built a homemade prototype lightsuit with the help of Green Lantern Hanami after she became lost on Earth. Instead of the Oan power batteries, the suit utilizes life energy, provided by a seed in watered earth. The suit can scan earthly objects and create duplicates from green energy; the suit's only weakness is the inability to affect wood and plants. The Sentinel would over the years attempt to refine the process and make the discovery about the connection to cosmic ley lines. It was his discovery that allowed for the initial powerup of the suit's systems 22 years after it crashed on Earth. It would be this incident that would alert the Guardians that the Lightsuit and bring Hari Jouon to Oa to eventually join the Spectrum Lanterns.

Felina Furr of South America was better known by her criminal alias, Alley Kat. Her heists were foiled time and again by Captain Carrot, but he never really pursued prosecuting her. One job had the cat burglar luring the Captain into a trap that she didn't realize was set by the gorillas. She helped free him and kept him from getting caught by the gorilla patrols long enough to acquire one of his power carrots and turn the tide. Leader Grod, furious at her betrayal, attempted to kill her by stabbing her with a replica wand from a movie series, but a gem (really a Darkstar fragment) she had stolen revived her. She drew the piece of wood from her chest and is able to channel her new abilities through it. She now works with Captain Carrot as Captain Katabra of the Captains of Zoology.
The combined form of the robotic Metal Men is known as Alloy. Alloy has its own personality which is the sum of all its parts. The Alloy formation is used in last resort situations. Due to the massive amount of energy the robot consumes in its attacks, there is a time limit involved. Once that limit is reached, the robots disassemble and have all of their energy reserves depleted. They are left without access to their weapons or abilities for a time, until their recharge cycle completes. Tin becomes the head, Gold and Mercury the body, Platinum and Copper the arms, and Lead and Iron the legs.
The "Advanced Mimicry Android Zeolitic Organism" was built by Professor Ivo. Using the mineral zeolite, he created a new organic material, with the power to absorb energy. Ivo wanted to use the robot to absorb his mind, but he died before it could activate. Lex Luthor found the android while clearing out his lab, and completed the work. The conscious android followed Lex's orders, as it was told that he will replace the Justice League. Luthor was attacked by Superman, and Amazo absorbed his life energy, turning him into a differently-colored version of Supes. As Amazo made contact with each League member, he added their powers to his own, taking on an amalgamated form of their appearances. Not only did Amazo take on their powers, but he took on their weaknesses as well...

After teen Billy Baker arrived on Animus, the wizard Anansi told him that if Tabu conquers all of Animus, she can summon the Dark Totem Hamed-Ali, with the power to conquer any and every world. The only being capable of defeating Hamed-Ali is the Totem King B'Wana, and he can only be summoned with the full power of the Omnitotem. So Baker, now calling himself Animal Man, sets out on a journey to unite with Jiwe Mari, princess of Aviazir and wielder of the other half of the Omnitotem, and summon B'Wana to free Animus.

After defeating the white men, the Apache Chief accessed the spirit world in order to bring Nikita (and their unborn child) back to life... at a penalty of trapping John in the spirit world.
Kaizen the Aquaman, younger brother of the Atlantean king, is the latest in a long line of Undersea Samurai who defend the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. Kaizen wields the water-manipulating Sword of Atlantis, and the Trident of Poseidon, which allows him to mentally control sea animals. When elemental sea monsters attacked, the forces of Atlantis were forced to ally with the other undersea kingdoms, Lemuria (earth), Sup'hala (fire), Shindagha (wind), Sommersa (ice), Rhakotis (lightning), and Dwarka (darkness). After uniting with heroes from the surface world against an alien menace, Aquaman and these other champions formed the Justice League. Aquaman's current apprentice is his niece Umiko the Aqualass, while his former apprentice Zenjiro the Aqualad is now training under the elemental wizard Samurai to become the Tempest. Kaizen is currently betrothed to the lovely Otohime (Mera).
Daughter to the King of Atlantis, and niece to Sword of Atlantis, Kaizen. Umiko (aka Aqualass) is chosen by Zenjiro to be his apprentice after Aquaman's disappearance, due in part to her insistence and her father's prohibition. She is headstrong and difficult to teach, but loves her uncle and wishes to aid in his safe return. Kaizen was infuriated to learn that Zenjiro had chosen his niece to be the new apprentice, since the lineage of the Sword of Dwarka swore to destroy the members of Kordax's family (a Sword of Atlantis and ancestor of Kaizen) who took up the Sword of Atlantis; this feud between the Sword of Dwarka and the Sword of Atlantis, known as the Curse of Kordax, began when Kordax slew Black Manta's grandfather.
In order to end the Curse of Kordax, the feud between his father Black Manta and the Atlantean royal family members who wield the Sword of Atlantis, Kal'Dur Ahm agrees to be the apprentice to Umiko the Aqualass, after she succeesd her uncle Kaizen the Aquaman as Sword of Atlantis. Zenjro, the former Sword of Atlantis, broke an ancient pact by destroying Black Manta's Sword of Dwarka in battle, the Kingdom of Dwarka declared war on Atlantis. Knowing that Aqualass and the new Aqualad won't be enough to defend their home, Aquaman went rogue to find Zenjiro, now the Tempest, and reforge the Sword of Dwarka.

Arion and Kompera (Garn Daanuth) are the twin sons of gods Dainichi and Iki-Ryu. Knowing they could never be together, Dainichi raised Arion and Iki-Ryu raised Kompera. 10 years later, they traded sons. While with his mom, Arion was forced to learn black magic. 10 more years later, as they went to trade, Kompera lashed out at Arion for taking away his mother and she stepped in to protect Arion, dying as a result. Arion would later become ruler of Meropis. Kompera returned to destroy his brother's kingdom with elemental monsters, which he countered with 7 Elemental Swords, wielded by the heroes of the 7 cities. Years later, Kompera successfully destroyed Meropis, and it began to sink. Arion used magic to turn the populace into seabreathers; he then disappeared.
Years ago, the mad immortal Anarky declared war against his brethren. Arkham, Anarky's brother, became the one to imprison him. They were both confined to an island with a magic barrier to keep them both there. Arkham tried to cure his brother; eventually, Arkham was convinced that it worked and dropped his guard. Anarky killed Arkham, but he was now alone and wished to die. The other immortals spoke to the daimyo and he sent warriors and healers to the island. Anarky inhabited a human sacrifice's body and was killed. The guards, monks and healers attempt to reform those who wind up there (usually dropped off by Batman), because it is impossible to escape...almost!
Mayumi Kokuou-Jones' mother and stepfather were thought to have been slain by the future Obsidian Archer, who caused the cave in that inspired Ori to become the Emerald Archer. When her mother finally returned to her, after thinking she was abandoned, Mayumi was distressed to hear the true reasons that she was away from her so long. She felt guilty for how she cursed her over the years and later took up her mother's cause to train with the weapons that her mother was given by Marishiten. Eventually, she discovered that her mother was still obsessed with the man that had caused all her grief, Kisai the Obsidian Archer. Bringing it to a fellow ne'er do well, they were able to develop Edward's harness into a suit of light-manipulating armor. With the suit, Arthur became a super-villain named Dr. Light, a member of the Mal-Practice.
In the ancient world, the continent of Meropis was controlled by 7 kingdoms: Atlantis, Dwarka, Sommersa, Lemuria, Su'phala, Rhakotis, and Shindagha. One of the viruses that was unleashed in the Worldwide Web corrupted a nanotech construction device and evolved into Atom Smasher. Its programming was to destroy the Atom, a hero destroying the evil nanoviruses around the Web. They clashed frequently, which allowed Atom to observe something about its behavior. There were times when the Atom Smasher would deviate from its programming, briefly to save the innocent denizens of the Web. However, the nanobot kept pursuing him until Atom was able to get Atom Smasher to notice it had gained sentience and thereby wasn't bound to its programming. Smasher would eventually assist Atom in his adventures, while maintaining a small level of hostility towards him.

Each vial is a different color and grants different demonic attributes. Bane tried to capture the Demon Bat by snapping its spine, but the demon fused with his avatar Batman, becoming the horrific Man-Bat! Bane barely escaped with his life, and the Man-Bat became out of control after slaughtering members of the League of Shadows, who tried to usurp the Emperor of Goth-Ahm. The Demon Bat was separated from Batman by the Spectre after Batman's apprentices weakened the Man-Bat, and the demon vanished. Bane's life was saved by the Demon's Head, who replaced Parademon with him in the Secret Six to pay off this debt.
Kumori Watanabe was orphaned at a child when his rich parents were slain by ninjas. He was raised by Akifumi Takaharu and trained in bushido; he then learned ninjitsu from Yoru-sensei. Kumori became "The Dark", a ninja in the League of Shadows. When the Dark's last mission took him to the caves of Mt. Goth-Ahm, he was trapped by the Demon Bat. He was the only ninja to ever escape the Demon Bat's caves, so the Demon Bat made Kumori his human avatar, the Shadow of the Bat. Batman and the Batclan, which formed with his students Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, continue to protect Goth-Ahm and imprison ninja criminals on the Island of Arkham.

The mysterious circumstances behind Batman's disappearance are related to him confronting The Spectre and subsequently getting hurtled through time to the future. While there he meets his future successor, in a Goth-Ahm much different than the one he knows...
Kemonomaru Meiun was taken in by the Doom Patrol. When the DP was murdered in front of his own eyes, Meiun went insane and was kept at a Cadmus facility. During an escape attempt by another, Meiun was freed from his cell. He came upon a room that had a device that was now insecure. It bonded itself to his right wrist and instantly cleared his multiple personalities. He fled the facility, and when attacked by guards, the device activated and released a small, green-furred animal which furiously defended the boy. Later, he would find out that the device, the Animatrix Gauntlet, allows him to create monsters based on his former alters. When Beast Boy's team of Titans encountered the Brotherhood of Evil, the Doom Patrol's enemies responsible for their deaths, one unnamed beast pulled out a giant sword and nearly killed them; Beast Boy realized that this personality was responsible for his family's death!
One of Darkseid's Female Furies. Bernadeth was placed in Granny Goodness' orphanage when her brother, Darkseid's minion Desaad, grew tired of abusing her himself. He would have new playthings to toy with as Apokilips' resident Dungeon Monitor, the person who supervises the interactions between participants at a dungeon to enforce house rules. The Dungeon is where Darkseid rewards his loyal servants with the attention of the Furies, as well as the location where Desaad would interrogate prisoners. Bernadeth would be presented as a "gift" and when whoever she was presented to began to have intercourse with her, she would endure it until her bodily fluids paralyzed them. She would then continue until she climaxed, erupting in a flood of acid which would dissolve them entirely. The more heightened her arousal, the more acidic her fluids are. She is naturally submissive, but dreams of being more.
One of Darkseid's Female Furies. The daughter of perhaps the deadliest of all Female Furies, Big Breeda, Barda lost her mother at a very young age. However, her legendary warrior mother was able to instill in her scion the warrior's pride that made her feared and respected on Apokolips and throughout the galaxy. For years, in Granny Goodness' Orphanage, she put up so much resistance to the programming that Darkseid took notice. For the first time in ages, he graced the orphanage with his presence and took Barda to receive his personal attention. Although the other girls of the orphanage knew Barda was about to receive ongoing punishment that if she endured would probably wished she had died...they were jealous that Darkseid paid her such attention. She would return a few years later the perfect soldier, and the perfect leader for the furies...who still harbored some resentment towards her. Barda was infused with artificial pain receptors linked to endorphins and adrenaline dispersal, resulting in super-strength and durability.
Whenever young Booeki Batsu says "Xiazamm", the name of the magi who granted him his powers, Batsu transforms into the World's Mightiest Mortal, "Captain Marvel." He possesses the martial arts of Xuan Wu, the lightning of Izanagi, the speed of Anjanea, the senses of Zatoichi, the foresight of Ahura Mazda, the wisdom of Ma Chao, and the strength of Mahasona. When Batsu returned from the Cave of Wonders, he had a vision: a global crisis and other images that he couldn't interpret, including a black-clad version of himself. Batsu later took a field trip to a zoo, and at one point heard a tiger talking; the tiger said he is Tawny of the realm called Animus, and that he has the power to interpret Batsu's vision. Later that night, Marvel freed Tawny from the zoo and they began their quest to save Earth...starting with forming the Captains of Industry.

In his attempts to kill Superman, Lex Luthor found an alternate universe where a virus broke out. That earth's Superman transports the uninfected to the Phantom Zone, while he rids the Earth of the virus by pushing the planet near the sun. He goes to the moon where the left the P-Zone Projector and sees that the virus has spread there, too. He enters the Zone where he becomes infected and slaughters the remaining infected, including his Justice League! The virus becomes inert in his system due to his alien physiology. Lex frees the zombie-Superman from this Phantom Zone, and uses his limited mental capacity to manipulate him. His costume changed color as a result of his time in the Phantom Zone, and he is much stronger than the main Superman from the prolonged exposure of solar energy. "Bizarro" is a name a bystander gives him, which, due to his diminished intelligence, winds up sticking.
Kommand'r, aka Blackfire, can fly and manipulate purple energy. The planet Tamaran was destroyed by Trigon; to survive, the Tamaranians use a caravan of giant starships. As they sought a new home, they were hunted by the Gordanians. After years of fighting and running, the Royals of Tamaran agreed to make peace with the Gordanians, who demanded to make the first-born virgin princess their ruler's consort. It was originally Kommand'r, until she revealed that she lost her virginity, unlike her younger sister, Korriand'r. The Gordanians agreed to the switch, but Korri didn't comply. She snuck away before the wedding and got on a ship with her new ally, Raven. They fled, and the Gordanians gave chase. Kommand'r was told that if Korri wasn't recovered, the original deal would return. She went with a search party, and younger brother Ryand'r was taken as punishment for breaking the deal.
The Father of Nightwing and Red Hood. The Shadow Wing clan was the Protector Clan of Ninja in the Hidden Regions until their destruction; the Batclan, which includes survivor Nightwing in their number, has become the new Protectors, but without asking for payment in exchange (since Batman's civilian identity is independently wealthy from his deceased parents' will).

After learning that Ahk Ton is in Hell, Adam became the evil Black Adam. He and his consort Blaze attacked Xiazamm in the Cave of Wonders. Xiazamm sent Blaze to Hell and trapped Adam in another dimension. Years later, a scientist absorbed Black Adam's essence, who seeks revenge against Xiazamm.
There are two Black Canaries in the Mangaverse, a mother and a daughter. The daughter is Black Canary II (Moriko Kurotori), apprentice of Gray Ghost and a Bird of Prey. She is usually soft-spoken, except when using her sonic scream attack, known as the Canary Cry! Before her marriage to Lord Blackhawk, Canary I had a fling with a certain green-clad archer, which probably means that he's the real father of Black Canary II. Moriko also has a brother, by her "father" Lord Blackhawk, codenamed Black Condor.
Ryouhei Kurotori is Black Condor, the firstborn son of Lord Blackhawk prior to him taking over the Blackbird clan. His stepmother, Lady Blackhawk, has made it so that his birthright as heir has been usurped by his sister Black Canary. The clan resides in The Aerie, a stronghold high in the mountains. They are the premiere couriers and masters of evasion of the ninja world, and select members possess the unique trait of "air walking". This allows the practitioner to gather energy in air molecules, draw them together, and with an equal but opposite charge channel energy into his foot and step on midair. Higher level members can do multiple steps, and Lord Blackhawk can run. Lord Blackhawk also has the Eagle Eye, a sense of sight as keen as Bloodhound's sense of smell. His father arranged a deal with Onishusoku, The Demon's Head, to allow for the arranged marriage of Red Canary, one of the deadliest assassins ever produced by the League of Shadows, to his heir.
Dr. Ashita Myounichi captured 4 elemental spirits and fused them with android bodies to show that the people of Earth will always be subject to nature's destructive powers. The Doctor sent the Elemental Androids to eliminate those who would threaten the planet (such as Charles Magnus), but when Black Lightning was sent to kill Dr. Michael Pierce, the robot developed a relationship with his children, Jefferson, Anissa, and Jennifer. The Blue Inferno android killed the family and tried to eliminate Lightning, but the robot escaped. Flooded with grief, Lightning's spirit took over Jefferson's body and revived his sisters. This means, in order for the good Red Tornado to become human, he would have to destroy what he loved. Black Lightning is now one of Batman's Outsiders.
Black Manta is the shadow-bending Sword of Dwarka, and archrival of Aquaman. Manta's grandfather and sea samurai master was slain by Kordax, Aquaman's ancestor. Since then, Black Manta's family and apprentices have sword to slay in battle all the members of Kordax's family who took up the swords of Atlantis; because of this bloodfeud, called the "Curse of Kordax", Aquaman's older brother took up their birthright as King of Atlantis instead of becoming a undersea samurai. Devil Ray is Manta's apprentice; after Black Manta's disappearance, Devil Ray refuses to take on a new apprentice, keeping his master's Sword and his own training swords until he returned.
During the final battle between Zoom and his heroic brother Flash, Zoom stole Flash's hypersuit and fused the two suits together; the result was a white hypersuit that Issoku willed to turn black, becoming the Black Racer. Just then, Impulse, a future hero wearing the white suit, divided his suit into the red and yellow ones, allowing The Flash and his nephew, Zoom Jr., to defeat Black Racer. The resulting explosion hurled Issoku into the 25th Century. After he healed, Issoku decided to change his ways, and so he married the woman who nursed him back to health and they had a son named Kosuku... who grew up to become Impulse!

She was told by Amanozako (Neron), a demon sorceress trapped in a magic card, that she has 666 days to return the 113 freed demons to Hell, or she'll be a blue demon forever. Shoki is now the Blue Devil, a powerful demon hunter with great strength (which she can temporarily increase by drinking demon blood), and the ability to create a trident from one of her hairs. Matir went on a hunt to find the man who destroyed her family and her quest brought her to Roulette, who tried her hypnosis on her to no avail. They administered drugs in her system that weakened her resolve, which turned her skin turned blue. Roulette places her as a rival of Judomaster, and Sargon winds up in the male version of Metabrawl.
After her mother, a South American cartel boss, was sexually assaulted by military police officer Clifford Zeimeck, the girl who became Bombshell turned the corrupt official and had to go into protection. She was offered the opportunity to undergo a similar process that Captain Atom underwent, changing her into sentient radiation inside a living metal shell. Her dog tags belong to her American soldier father that she never knew. She can release her Quantum Energy in bursts, either through her fists or her entire body. She can also charge inanimate objects with it, like the bullets in her side arm, for longer distance attacks. Bombshell is now a member of Ravager's team of Teen Titans, but soon to be replaced by Kid Eternity...
Mikoto Jin Kaeda was a janitor in the "21st Century Hero Museum" that was built in the 31th Century. He was in love with the curator, so he memorized every exhibit to have something in common with her. On the night he planned to use his knowledge of her favorite subject...a meteorite crashed through the window, killing her! Mikoto tried to lift the rock off her, but when he touched it, it spewed forth liquid gold! It encased him in a nanotech armor that was sent to win the Dominator War, which had been over for decades. He activated a tour drone, and together they figured out how to activate one of the exhibits, a time sled. Attempting to go back to save the woman, they missed the mark and wound up in our time! Stuck in the past, he decided that it wouldn't matter if he became a hero. Although, "Bio-Booster Gold" would soon find out that history isn't exactly as he had studied it to be!
The Battle-Ready-Artificially-Intelligent-Nemesis-InterActive-Construct (Brainiac, for short) is a computer program designed by Joru-Ku to train young Superman in kryptonian martial arts. When Superman finally surpassed Brainiac, it goes haywire and becomes his enemy. Superman defeats him once before, and his scattered tech is confiscated by Lexcorp to help create Superboy. After Superman defeats the rebuilt BRAINIAC at the second Man of Steel combat tournament, Brainiac sends out a signal to a group of space-faring Kryptonian warriors, led by General Zod. Soon enough, BRAINIAC returns and starts looking for its missing program, the Book of Rao, which was downloaded into Superboy's brain.
Brainiac 5 is a "Biological Replicant Amplified Intelligence Node Interactive Construct 5.0". When the Dominators invaded, a cabal of scientists found the remains of the original Brainiac and tried to create a new army of cyborgs. The problem with the first 4 models is that the combat parameters drove them insane, and they fought to the death. On the 5th try, the scientists tried to suppress the combat programming and amplify its intelligence node, so that it could help them solve their problem. However, the lab was infiltrated and the scientists died. As the assassins approached the cyborg, it created a force field generator out of spare parts and detonated the facility's failsafe. The unconscious B-5 was found by the leader of the Legion of Super Soldiers, Rakuin Hinshu (RJ Brande), and made a member of the team. His Skirmisher battlesuit can connect with the other Legionaries' and give them his advanced combat skills.

Myoshi was kidnapped during the battle, and Tiger tried to barter for her release, but it was too late. They subdued the distraught fighter, and Onishusoku's head trainer, Shuo-Shi-Sensei brainwashed Tiger into becoming one of the League's top assassins for years. Bronze Tiger also served in the Suicide Squad.
