Wouldn't it be nice if the New X-men were like the Young Avengers

I don't actually mean the teams I mean the books. I am a big Young Avengers and New X-men fan, both teams are completely different in set up the Young Avengers want to be heroes, where as the New X-men were more thrust into the life but this is not my point. The Young Avengers started out with 12 run with a special back in 2005, they had their own 4 part crossover with the Runaways during the Civil War, the next book of their own came to 2008 with Young Avengers Presents which was a 6 part limited series which told individual stories, that same year the had another crossover with the Runaways this time a 3 part limited series during the Secret Invasion, they had 5 part limited series during the Dark Reign with the Young Masters of Evil. Their latest limited series is Avengers Children's Crusade which is made up of 9 parts. They have also appeared in various other book as background characters.

The New X-men started in New Mutants when majority of the main cast were recruited. They continued into the New X-men book which had a 46 issue run before it was cancelled. Though this book did start as a school book. Now all these characters that are much loved and have years of character development, have been thrown out to seeming live the rest of their days as background characters.

The point I'm making is why have Marvel never used the template for Young Avengers on the New X-men. Yes the Young Avengers have featured in plenty of books but they are used sparingly in their own books, I would like them to have their ongoing but I am also happy the way things are. It's as if you sort of forget about the Young Avengers then Marvel bring out a new limited series and then you go oh yeah I love these guys. Where as the New X-men you sort of see them quite regularly but only in passing with no dialogue, no development, no nothing.

I would like to see more development for the likes Match, Trance, Indra, Cipher, Greymalkin, Bling, Gentle, Blindfold, Crosta, Loa and even the likes of Glob Herman, Ernst and No-girl. It would also be nice to see the main characters from the New X-men get featured more often. The likes of Hellion, Prodigy, Surge, Mercury, Dust, Anole, Rockslide and the Stepford Cuckoos have all had quite a lot of the development as the main characters of the series, so how can all this be just tossed aside. It would also be nice if they even mentioned Elixir and Ink form time to time. Now you may not like some of these characters but I hate throw away characters, if you create a character think through his/her development and then take the time to build these characters, developing them over time. There was the whole thing about Pixie getting trained by Doctor Strange when she turned 18, I hope that plot thread has not been forgotten.

Using the same template for the Young Avengers would allow writers to develop all the young mutant characters, while not having to write them for monthly release. Its just a thought I have been having of late.

Thanks for Reading.
