I'm not really sure.  I read from different sources that it is and that the lapd use this call for training.  apparently, the operator did not get vital information quick enough and didn't give the old lady instructions like locking the door or anything. 
A couple of other forums mentioned it was staged. 
Not sure really.  Kinda hoped it's staged but there's something disturbingly genuine about her scream.  You never hear a scream like that in a horror film.

I dunno if anyone would find this funny but it's part of a story involving Zatanna.  Zatanna deals with a mob of terrified people by turning them into bats.  The following had me loling. 
 

For me, I always had it in my head that Superman is faster than a speeding bullet... which is bloody fast.  But not much faster than that.
