While I would have liked The Batman, Batgirl or Nightwing to come out next year, I don't mind waiting for a polished product than get a sloppy rush-job.

Right now, I think WB is in a transitional period when it comes to DC movies. They are trying to get things sorted out and for something of this magnitude, it takes time to do. Snyder is probably gone for good, Johns (and that other guy whose name I can't remember) are the top guys for the DCEU, Wonder Woman is their first real critical success and Justice League is undergoing some (apparently serious) changes. If JL and AM are big hits, then I think they will have finally found a good set up. If not, who knows?

@gaoron: What made the original Alien good was the Xenomorph and the Human characters, and it's the same with the Martian as well, the human characters are written better, there was a sense of comrodery, a sense of family among the characters, in the original Alien, the characters were written so good, I wish they didn't have to die, I didn't get that feeling with Covenant, in Covenant, the characters were written so bland, as if they were just there to die.

Ridley Scott focused too much on the aliens and not on the characters unfortunately.

Well, Dan O'Bannon deserves credit for the characters. He is the one who wrote the script and he had real passion for the story. I don't know who wrote Covenant, but I assume it was just some Hollywood writers that were doing it for the paycheck and following any stupid direction they get from Scott or the producers.

Scott doesn't really get story. Hell, the man hired Damon Lindaloft to rewrite Prometheus.

Yeah, I don't think anyone will make a TV show about the least popular, worst selling member of the Batfamily. Might as well make a Harper Row/Duke Thomas show while they're at it.

@achilles100: Indeed that is the case. Apart from an actress who would you want to write and direct the film? I suppose it depends on what kind of story you would want to tell.

I'd say any good director that can make a good, fun Superman movie (or any VFX heavy fun action movie) could do well. Matthew Vaughn is apparently interested in making a MoS 2 and I think he could do well for a PG movie with his established history. I can't think of many more off-hand because most of my favourite directors make super-serious not-fun movies.

As far as I know, most of the Golden Age writers were Jewish. Comics writing was just a new york jewish thing in the beginning. It may have to do with the fact that a lot of the early publishers were run by jews and there was still a lot of antisemitism at the time, so those publishers provided jobs to their people.

I don't think it has any effect on current comics or any era really. DC doesn't shove any religion down the readers throats and doesn't say one is right and all the others are wrong. IMO, any reasonable person of any religion (or lack thereof) could be a perfectly fine writer for DC.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

Anyway, the thing about Dick Grayson is that he is a romantic. He wears his heart on his sleeve and wants to be in love. Sure, he's slept with plenty of women in his life, but I don't think any of those times were for selfish reasons. He always had the intention of being in a relationship with them (unless it is a writer who doesn't understand the character), but things go wrong. He probably shouldn't have sex so quickly, but it kinda goes along with his 'leap before looking' personality.

I've also heard the argument that Dick subconsciously sabotages his relationships because he is in love with Barbara. I don't think this applies to Kory, but I get the feeling it will be one of the reasons his recent relationship with Shawn Tsang failed.

@achilles100: If we are discussing portrayals of characters in live action, then who would portray PG the best in live action? I know that there is a forum page specifically talking about this, but most people there only look at which actor would best play the physical part. Not mainly focusing on the character preformance aspect.

Discounting looks, any good actress that can look and act believably tough while still having a level of humanity and vulnerability could do well. Someone like Charlize Theron in recent years. The reason, IMO, why it is so hard to find an actress for PG is that they have to have those acting chops and look close enough in physique. Yes, she would need to be curvy and muscular.

@prospero_locke: But look at what James Cameron did to the Alien franchise with his Aliens movie, he expanded the Alien universe to what we love today, and this is without input from Ridley Scott and even Ridley himself cannot ignore, when he was ask what he considered canon, he said Alien and Aliens, Ridley Scott may have been the driving force, James Cameron is just a better driver.

I enjoyed Aliens more than Alien to be honest.

Well, they are two completely different movies. Alien was a horror movie and Aliens was an action movie with a few horror elements. I'd say that Aliens is more enjoyable because of its genre, but I can't say that it is a better movie than Alien.

Cameron gets credit for expanding the mythos, but Scott deserves more praise for creating the look and tone of the universe.
