I am having trouble teleporting through your television screen

I ran across a bit of an oddity today in Mystery in Space and strangely enough it was not the first time I had seen it in a comic book.  Though the two incidents were written almost twenty years apart it leads me to believe that there are more out there.  In both cases it involved an alien invasion of Earth by teleportation, either through a television set or a movie projector.  Of course I do not expect a high level of science from this series, but the Marvel series which followed some time later (Creatures on the Loose) might have benefited from a bit more scientific insight.  The concept behind it is not that uncommon in science fiction, that some everyday device we use turns out to be the seed of our destruction.  To be fair some quantum physicists think they are onto something like teleportation, but suffice to say it is on a small scale and the machinery involved is more advanced than you would find inside any television.  Just another reminder how much more discerning readers are in the present day in terms of the level of science fiction.

@RazzaTazz: Not sure if it counts as "modern" but Supreme villain Televillain has the ability to travel through TV. He used it to kill one of the characters of Friends once.(The actress was fine.)

@Dommed_Cannon: Interesting, it works as a superpower just fine, but as a technology makes no sense

@RazzaTazz: Supreme wasn't big on science, or at least realistic science.

Still a fun read in my opinion.

doesn't Mojo the X-Men foe have some relation to going through the Television, I would think that this idea was popular during the 80's when we had the cable television boom....it probably actually was a popular trope in 80's cartoon shows....which I just can't remember

I wish I used rainbows to travel through TVs.

I bet if you got a good running start that you would teleport through just fine :)

I like vague and weird things, so needless to say I jumped at the opportunity to actually join in and try and delve into this as seriously as possible with you.

Unfamiliar with Creatures On The Loose, I Googled it (also to see if this was a STAR imprint, because if then any expectation for scientific application, much less the application of logic, story structure, and well anything is null and void), but my train of thought popped when I saw a few characters names in big print on the covers, like Thongor for instance, and am now engaged in endless immature giggling. Thank you for making me smile at least with this, I needed it. ^_^
