How I learned how to stop worrying and love the Strahan

I am the first to admit that I am pretty ignorant when it comes to professional sports.  A friend of mine had to point out to me that one of the locally famous hockey players was famous for more than being from the city where I live or for playing on the Canadian Olympic hockey team.  I do sort of watch sports, but generally only as a social activity.  If it can be said that I follow sports, it is that I get to see them through a different light.  As a non-fan I suppose I get to see more of the stuff that makes the front-page news, which is not always glowing in terms of the players, be it through infidelity and drug use or more serious things like murder or dogfighting.  My choice to stay away from this world is in large part through my own choice, I know that the more I become involved in it the more cynical I would become and therefore alienate a lot of people that enjoy this form of entertainment.

Then one day (today) a great synthesis occurred.  I was checking out what to expect on my pull list at the DC Comics website, and hidden down in the corner was an advertisement for the “Super-Fans” which was a combination of a promotional venture for Subway and DC Comics, in a story that involved some professional football players and the Justice League teaming up to fight some Aquaman villains.  One of the players was Michael Strahan, and the name seemed familiar, though I had no reason why it would.  I did figure it out though, Michael Strahan appeared in last month’s Archie Comics (yes I read Archie).  So a quick internet search turned up a bunch of information about professional football that I have no idea how to relate how unimportant it is to me.  Apparently there was some controversy over something about an all-time record.  I am not so sure why this guy is getting so much press, seems like a kind of run-of-the-mill kind of guy when it comes to sports, but then I guess compared to Michael Vick or O.J. Simpson that maybe run-of-the-mill is pretty good (plus he got to meet Wonder Woman).  Anyway he is now my default favourite football player by being the only one I recognize by name and comic book likeness.

I am kinda a sports guy. I used to care a lot more and I have fallen off a lot recently. I think you know of my favorite football team's quarterback. I used to read Archie comics back in the day, not bad stuff.

@Daveyo520: Is he married to a Brazilian supermodel?
Posted by Daveyo520

@RazzaTazz: He is, hence why I am sure you know him.

@Daveyo520: I know the name, I know nothing else, just like I know the name of the basketball player that was married to Kim Kardashian

@RazzaTazz: I don't know that guys name but I know Kim. I don't know a lot of basketball, just the real famous ones or the good guys on the local team.
