RESPECT THE KING!

Aquaman, King of the Seven Seas

No Caption Provided

Arthur Curry, commonly known world-wide as Aquaman, is arguably considered one of the most greatest superheroes in the DC Universe, marking himself on the list of top-tier superheroes and being one of the founding members of the Justice League. However, I believe he hasn't been given the attention, more so the respect he rightfully deserves. The general audience mostly recognize him as the superhuman "merman" who's able to breathe underwater and communicate with marine life; as shown in the animated series, Super Friends. However, most people lack the knowledge of this once ignored character and are totally oblivious of his other superhuman abilities, so here to pretty much shed some light on his shunned-upon feats. Aquaman has been depicted of substantial lifting power, having lifted objects over 100 tons on a normal scale. He has been able to lift heavy objects such as oil rig platforms, submerged tanks, city building blocks, cruise ships, and tectonic plates from underwater; adding over thousand tons of ocean weight onto the objects. Aquaman also has the power to break through huge objects with great force such as mountains, pillars, heavy metal aircraft, and much more.

His ability to withstand the immense pressure of the ocean floor, gives Aquaman really tough skin durability. He is durable enough to endure intense gunfire and extreme temperatures, depicted of being unharmed from high-caliber bullets and heat beams at close range. Aquaman has avoided being severely injuried, or harmed in that matter from huge impacts that would kill any human instantly. He has also fell from a jetplane (which an air-breathing aircraft (not a rocket) can fly to altitudes of 85,000 ft.) as well as being smashed by huge pillars and boulders and have persevered.

Aquaman is also a very skilled telepathist, considerably one the best in DC Universe and being depicted of having equal telepathic powers as Martian Manhunter. It is so strong that he has used his telepathy in the most critical situations and have defeated the most brutal villains with it; including Despero.

Not only could Aquaman alter the minds of all marine life, but having such a strong telepathy, he has the ability to find the elements in the brain of land animals (including humans) that they inherit from their marine ancestor called the Basal Ganglia and have proven effective on superhumans such as Zum and Superman.

Aquaman is also a powerful swimmer and considered the fastest (and strongest) being in the ocean. He has reached speeds to Mach 10, and has been depicted of going faster than The Operative's hyper-sonic jet plane and a pair of stinger-ray missiles, both reaching speeds between Mach 5 and Mach 10. He also has keen superhuman senses and reflexes and is able to dodge heat beams, bullets, as well as arrows in all directions, even catching some along the way. With his legs being as strong as it is (capable of pulling cruise ships, etc.) Aquaman has one of the highest leaps in DCU and considered to have almost the same leaping distances as Superman.

Former Powers

Magic

The mechanical harpoon hand was replaced by a magical hand made out of water given to him by the Lady of the Lake, which grants Aquaman numerous abilities; the ability to dehydrate anyone he touches with it, killing them instantly, the ability to change the shape and density of the hand for example Orin can make his hand into a sword or harder than steel, shoot jets of scalding water, healing abilities, the ability to create portals into mystical dimensions, communicate with the Lady of the Lake through the water bearer hand and the ability to nullify magic even powerful sorcerers like Tempest. Since the transformation to the Dweller and his return to the living, Aquaman now appears to have a normal hand. Whether he retains any mystic abilities has yet to be determined.

Access to The Clear

Aquaman also had the ability to access "The Clear" which Swamp Thing and Animal Man also came in contact with it as well. With Arthur being able to access the Clear he has the ability to sense primal emotions of aquatic creatures. The Clear seems to function as a universal consciousness of all sea life enabling him communicate to them from across the other side of the world and catch sight of what they see. Aquaman also had the potential to reach out to land creatures by finding the elements of their brain that was passed from their marine hereditary. His ability to access to "The Clear" has yet to be determined in continuity.

Weaponry & Equipment

The King's Trident

Aquaman's Trident (crafted by the first king of Atlantis) is his standard weapon of choice. It's indestructible, and able to hurt even the toughest of opponents. With the possession of his trident in the New 52 alone, Aquaman has had the strength to break through Graves magical ice barrier which was deemed indestructible as well as being the only leaguer to pierce through Darkseid and make him bleed. Said to be the most powerful among a set of weapons created by Atlantean artifacts from the hands of the first king of Atlantis, Aquaman is always carrying it with him as a symbol of his authority and a deadly weapon if the need arises (although any further powers have yet to be revealed).

Weaknesses

Water Deprivation

Although he can remain underwater indefinitely without suffering an ill effects, Aquaman grows weak if he continues to dwell on land for a period of time without hydrating (like all humans).
