Fantastic Four reboot is DOOMED?

After a good long while, we finally got some more input on the Fantastic Four reboot. Toby Kebbell who is playing Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four reboot divulged a few changes regarding his character during an interview with Collider. This new Dr. Doom isn't a doctor at all. Instead he is an “anti-social programmer” named Victor Domashev. Not Victor Von Doom or Victor Van Damme for that matter, just an iteration of the original villain. The only reference to Doom is when Kebbell's character posts blogs with his online handle/ screen name “Doom.”

This is just sad and infuriating for me. Time and time again directors try to implement their own creativity into a comic book's mythos in order to give their movie some originality. When the director does this, its more than likely that their originality will butcher the film and any chance for a sequel. I won't dive into Snyder's choice for casting Eisenberg as Lex Luthor because he "wants to take the character in new directions" but this is exactly the same stupidity that I'm seeing with this revamp of Doom. I believe in the old saying "If something isn't broken then why fix it?"

I suppose I should have seen the writing on the wall when 20th century fox decided to give the FF reboot to the director who did Chronicle. Chronicle wasn't exactly a memorable movie. It was kind of like Jumper. An absolute failure despite Samuel L Jackson's involvement. The only good outcome I can see from this movie is if the reboot does so poorly at the theaters that Marvel/ Paramount buys back the rights for Fantastic Four. Same thing goes for X-Men after they're done making the final installments for Wolverine and X-Men 6. I don't think anyone would really get upset if 20th century fox decided not to produce a Deadpool movie (videogame sucked!!!), a X-Force movie (the story line can be summed up in X-Men: Apocalypse) or a Gambit movie (what would be the plot).
