I was under the impression that if Character A is shown one day blowing-up a planet and two years later Character A is killed with ease by Character B, Character B should automatically be assumed able to do anything Character A could do, and more, especially when we're talking about DBZ characters who more-or-less all have the same powers, just varying levels. Gohan beat Buu, therefore the math goes:
Planet Earth<Buu<Gohan

Probably wouldn't, but do you know any female superheroes personally so you could ask?" @Vance Astro said:Half the people on this blog agree with you.Either you just lied to me or I don't understand what your argument is."@box turtle said:First off, its not that minimal given about half the people on this blog agree with me. Secondly, I dont think female characters are being singled out, a fair amount of space has been devoted to the ridiculous outfit of Namor. "" @Vance Astro: So effectively your saying all sorts of people complain about different problems by u dont care cuz u dont have those problems so screw them no matter what they are upset about. "No I'm saying it's childish to be mad at Marvel for having superheroes wear skimpy outfits.Obviously not enough people care that much because it's not an issue in the comic community.I'm sure Quesada never had a meeting and was like "You guys have to put some clothes on these characters because we've been getting alot of complaints".You know why this doesn't happen? Because it's silly. If you have a problem with the clothing that's fine..that's your opinion all i'm saying is don't expect Marvel to give a sh#t about a minimal problem very few people have with comics.I also don't see why female characters are being singled out when there are male characters that are half naked as well."

"Writers have nothing to do with the way a character looks..that's why they are WRITERS and not ARTISTS."
Both of you need to chill a little. I have a couple of points I need to make.
1. We don't need to take everything seriously. When I make the comment of "If there is a super-heroine bearing wearing anything, I personally would only look at the pictures and not pay attention to the storyline. So all the hard-work the creators put in it would be useless. If Marvel can only sell because of chicks in tight spandex and not the storyline we should point and laugh at them." I didn't actually mean anything about only looking at the pictures, it was a joke I made only to counteract the point of pointing and laugh at whoever is offended.
2. Nobody mentioned that by covering up everybody meant that it would be a full body suit. It is more of a mild statement like; instead of a bikini how about mini shorts and a t-shirt.
3. Some super-heroines dress well enough. We don't need to argue that everybody needs to cover up more.
Lets argue about costumes like these                                                                                                                 And not like these "
And as far as Namor goes...he lives underwater. Of COURSE he wears swim-trunks! Come on! ;)
" @RaptorFratBoy said:I own them both. "Black Widow" took place in underground S&M dungeons, so that wasn't "unnecessary". It was part of the setting of the story, and it's not like we saw a three-page graphic sex scene. "Howard The Duck" was a brilliant take on the industry as a whole, as would be expected from the late, great Steve Gerber. The only gratuitous nudity in the book would probably be the whole "Bitch Blade" mini-story they told, but again, that was mainly a comedic look at a character already well-known for being gratuitous in her own right. As if Sara Pezzini enjoys looking like s scabby pin-up girl, anyway. the only other instances of nudity that I can remember was Beverly standing in the shower naked (for all of two panels), and Beverly lying in bed post-coitus, and even that you barely see her nipples." K...I know I'm new here, but here's my two cents as a very long-time comic fan...Comics don't NEED women or men in revealing costumes to sell books. Do they help? You bet. Do they ALSO help the mainstream perspective of comics to improve? No, not at all, really. Because we live in a society where one half wants it all, and the other half wants everything covered-up, we're bound to run into these kind of issues. The fact is, comics are fictional, and so not everything should HAVE to apply itself to reality. Would Ms. Marvel likely go out in public to fight crime wearing a thong-butt costume and barely much else? No, probably not, and in fact a strong, powerful woman like Carrol Danvers would more than likely be pretty opposed to such a thing. Moonstone on the other hand? She'd be all-over it, as has been seen, due to the attention it brings her. Karla Soften LOVES being objectified; it gets her off. Again, however, would a comic featuring Ms. Marvel wearing head-to-toe battle armor sell books? Maybe, but probably not as many as a Greg Horn-painted, swimsuit-wearing Ms. Marvel does. And honestly, if we're REALLY talking about "wearing more" and the ridiculous nature of superhero costumes, it all starts at the very beginning...Superman's underwear on the outside of his pants. Why? Why the cape? Etc. etc. etc. Superheroes, men and women, are basically drawn completely naked for the most part, it's just that they so happen to all be wearing extremely skin-tight spandex so their skin is multi-colored, rather than one solid color. And really, if you think what X-23 and Surge are wearing counts as "too revealing"? Have you SEEN what 16-year-old girls are going out dressed in these days?! Believe me, nothing gives me such a horrible, dirty feeling as checking-out what appears to be a gorgeous 25-year-old in tight jeans and a belly shirt only to realize that yes, they are in fact 16 or younger. Terrible. Seems to me comic creators are only following suit, as their younger characters honestly look like REAL young people. Hope that added something to the conversation...OH...For the record, I've collected almost every single book under the "Marvel MAX" imprint, and rarely is there even gratuitous nudity, let alone "porn". Those books are used more to showcase graphic violence and bad language, and I assume it's mostly that way at Vertigo. Those books don't get the acclaim they do because they're "porn books". Do some research... "Have you read MAX's Black Widow..there was plenty of ridiculous and unnecessary nudity moments in it.Also in Howard the Duck. "
It was a big deal because Buu BLEW-UP EARTH. That would kinda suck...
But no, if you watch DBZ from the beginning, you'd see that pretty much every major character could pretty easily destroy a planet if they wanted to. By the time that series ended, ALL the major heroes were far, far more powerful than Frieza. Hell, Trunks killed him in about three seconds in his first appearance. If you're measuring power-levels and comparing them to say, characters like Superman and Hulk? A bunch of my friends and I got to talking about this once during our nerd-chats, and we basically came-up with that Krillan, probably the least-powerful of the main good guys, could EASILY out-fight Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Batman, Captain America, etc. Goku, Gohan, Trunks, and Vegeta? They would make a mockery out of Superman's power on a bad day. It's not something I enjoy admitting, either, it's just the way the characters have been written.
And that's just the thing...they're that powerful, because they've been written that way since day-one. Superman's not as powerful because, well, besides in the Golden Age he was never portrayed as BEING that powerful. So if you matched the two against each other soley based on their respective histories, Goku wins hands-down. Sad (to some), but true...

YES!!! Stargate love is always a good thing! The original movie is one of my all-time favorites, and anyone that hasn't seen it and enjoys good Sci-Fi action, give it a shot! You (hopefully) won't be disappointed!
"SG1" was a great show with an equally-great cast (MacGiver!), but I haven't seen any of "Atlantis"...that said, it would be nice to see an all-new team for the comic so they can establish their own chunk of the Universe, rather than trying to adapt shows and kill artists with trying to make everyone look like their real-life counterparts.
Never read the book; I was going to until I heard the TV adaption stank, which is why I was interested to begin with, and then it just sort of got lost in the shuffle of things I need to buy.
Gotta love Palmiotti, though, and I wish him luck! Hopefully this works-out better than the SyFy deal, and really, why do comic people keep giving that network a chance with their superhero properties? Have they ever done ONE right?!
And for my first post...
Living on a fairly-small island in Southeast Alaska, I don't get to read comics when they come out. Period. No LCBS, maybe three or four major titles littering the grocery stores, that's it. Anything else I've gotta wait and pay for, so naturally and unfortunately, I wait for trades.
That said, I have to say all the "Blackest Night" stuff has me more excited about comics than I've been in a long time, me being 28-years-old and a reader since 5th Grade. I guess that's saying something? Who knows...But anyway, just re-read the "Sinestro Corps War" 2-part hardcover collection, and it's just more-and-more amazing each time I read it. Masterful storytelling, some of the best art in the industry, and characters you genuinely grow to either love or hate, even if you've never seen them before reading this story.
Just thought I'd jump on in and offer that opinion up, in case any new readers are out there. "Green Lantern" is the coolest! And I like Marvel more, generally, so it actually kinda stings to admit that DC has the best thing going right now...The "Dark Reign" cloud has become overcast for far, far too long...
