Track Review: "Nerve" by The Story So Far

No Caption Provided

May 19 will see the release of Pop-punk band The Story So Far's third album entitled "The Story So Far". In anticipation of this record the band released the first single entitled "Nerve". Let's check it out shall we.

The track starts out with some nice guitars played by Kevin Geyer and William Levy, which leads straight into the song's verse. The drums on the verse are solid as a rock, with Ryan Torf playing some very powerful and entertaining parts. Parker Cannon's vocals sound strong has always, with his performance being very passionate and engaging. His lyrics are also well done, with Cannon singing about a break up, which is normal subject matter for these guys. The song also has some well sung harmonies that appear on the pre-chorus and the chorus. They give the song that nice adding touch that makes it stand apart from some of their other songs. The song's chorus is pretty solid, though it isn't one of the bands most powerful chorus's. The track overall has an slight emo feel to it, with the song's melody being in a more minor key than some of the bands other material and Cannon's vocals sounding more "down" than usual. This sound is something that I think is a nice change for the band and makes me interested in hearing what the band is planning on delivering on this upcoming album.

Overall, "Nerve" is one of the bands strongest tracks yet and a great taste for whats coming on the self-titled record. Please check this band out. If you're into Pop-punk or any of the "scene" genres, then this band is right up your alley. I give "Nerve" my rating of an 9.5/10. Incredibly strong track. Expect a review of the album when it drops later next month.
