Raiiyn’s breath was labored as her lungs burned against the cold, moist air. Her mind, a jumble of broken images and half sentences, as she replayed the day’s events in her mind. Barely aware of her surroundings, she continued to run straight ahead, the storefronts and cafes becoming a blur. It wasn’t long before she became engulfed in a thick fog. Slowing down her pace, she was dragged away from her thoughts and brought back to the present.
She brought her hands up in front of her and was comforted that she could at least see that far ahead.
“Never, in all my life have I ever seen a fog so thick. What is with this day?!”
She slowly extended her arms and took a few small steps forward.
“Wouldn’t it be just my luck for a driver to come around the bend, just now?” she laughed to herself. “Bet that would make James right happy.”
Continuing forward, she tried to navigate herself somewhere she could go inside. Somewhere safe.
