No.

There is noway they could fit the Avengers world and a world populated with Mutants and make it all fit without it being a complete mess.

Also Marvel would make Daredevil a family friendly popcorn flick and that is exactly the opposite kind of DD I enjoy.

No. Here's why: If all the rights go back to Marvel, many movies that would have gotten made wont. They just won't have the room to stuff all those characters into one universe. They can't make movies for everything, I mean just look at what happened with Daredevil. Everyone wanted his rights to go back to Marvel, now they have but Marvel has their hands so full right now they don't have time for a DD film even tho DD Is a BETTER character than most of the current Marvel Studios characters. They just can't fit him in. Now, it looks as of it'll be ten to fifteen years before we get a good DD film and it's because Marvel doesn't have the time and it doesn't fit with the rest of their universe, so it is placed on the shelf.

That's what'll happen if the rights for anything else revert anytime soon.

That's actually pretty reasonable.

However one might argue that if they're going to make movies like Wolverine: Origins, maybe it'd be better if they didn't make a movie at all.

I wish they would. X-2 and First Class were really the only two good X films. Likewise, the only good Spider-Man movies were Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. FF hasn't had any good movies. I think Marvel would handle these properties much better. Plus, can you imagine the future team-up potential?

I'm actually pretty forgiving when it comes to comicboomovies, I enjoyed say the first 40 minutes of Origins. Everything from when they were kids to the point where Zero is chasing him in the helicopter, but whenever he goes to find Blob and the black guy who teleports (still not entirely sure who that is supposed to be) everything from that point on was crap. It could've worked, if they just left Gambit outta the picture. He's only in the film for like 5 minutes, he was supposed to be like a thumbs up toward X-men fans but he was alot more like a middle finger toward them. Just leave Gambit out, and then have A NORMAL Deadpool show up at the end and fight Logan. It coulda worked....It could've been OKAY, IMHO.

@jj62: I'm trying to imagine they could have handled Deadpool worse than they did, and I honestly can't. When a character's signature thing is never shutting up -- when his nickname actually includes "with a mouth," and you silence him for almost the entirety of the film... I just don't get it. Anyhow, I agree that the movie had potential. But that potential was, to me, entirely squandered, and a bigger disappointment than not having had a movie at all (again, in my opinion).

Yes because I hate the new Spider-man, Fantastic for was mediocre, and the X-men movies are pretty good but I hate the direction the franchise is headed, so I think that Disney could improve on all of these movie franchises considering how well they've handled the Avengers and respective characters.

If Marvel had these characters none of these films would even get maid, you'd likely get a Spider-Man film and thats it.

I feel like they should get them all back simply because it's the company that birthed the characters and they've shown to actually care about delivering a quality product that's true to the material for it's fans. Spider-Man is doomed at Sony, and I don't have high hopes for Fantastic Four. I've enjoyed most of the X-Men movies (I love X2 and First Class), but Fox has shown us that they don't completely know what they're doing with it. It's still entirely possible Days of Future Past could be an overcrowded mess.

Sure, it would be hard for them to handle everything, but things would be for the large part in better hands than ever before. A Fantastic Four movie that's Marvel Studios' fifth or sixth priority would still end up better than the two we got when they were Fox's second priority comic film to make happen. Also, having the rights doesn't mean everything and everyone is going to be forced into an Avengers film culmination. At most we'd get Wolverine and Spider-Man.

Spiderman can stay. But everything else needs to go back. Especially Xmen. I say this simply because of making a shared universe between them and the avengers. I did however love X-men 1,2 and First Class.

I agree that if Marvel did get the rights to these characters, they probably would have cared more about making it stick to the source material since they did create these characters, however it also depends on who writes the script and who directs the film.

What do we mean by should? Do we mean Marvel is entitled to their return? Marvel should make a greater effort to get them back?

Marvel/Disney get a big, fat check every time Fox or Sony renews the contract, and with no additional investment or risk. Meanwhile, they still have a huge stockpile of characters to mine; which they can use to undercut the profits of their rivals. Should Marvel get those characters back? Give them one good (profitable) reason to do so.

At the very least, get the rights to put Spidey, select Fantastic Four, and Wolverine (and various X-Men that are Avengers) in Avengers 2 and/or 3. Marvel Civil War maybe?

I agree that there needs to be a more cohesive universe with the Marvel characters even though it all depends on what stories will be woven between these characters.

I would definitely like to see the Fantastic Four work more in the cosmic universe myself since a majority of their adventures take place in the cosmic universe and Marvel is starting to concentrate a bit more on the cosmic universe with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

No.

There's no way Disney can wing all the Avengers movies they want to make PLUS Spider-Man PLUS all the X-Men PLUS the Fantastic Four. No company could sustain making that many movies of the same genre without faltering (especially in a shared universe).Disney has a good thing going for them right now. Let's not rock the boat here.

X-Men was a fine movie, for its time. People forget that it and Blade were the first movies to be released with Marvel Characters since 1989's direct-to-DVD Punisher and that flop of a Cap movie in 1990. X-Men (and to a lesser extent Blade) re-invigorated the Comic Book movie genre after a decade of indie flicks and so-so Batman movies. X-Men was alright for its time. I remember loving it when i was a kid. Now-a-days it seems mediocre but that's only because we know just how good a comic book movie can be these days.

I agree that it would become too complicated if all the Marvel Characters were in the same universe together, unless a good movie knows how to balance all of these characters in a plot.

@rabbitearsblog: Another issue is how convoluted does Disney really want to get. There are already blog posts and news articles about people saying the shared universe is borderline too much as is. Could you imagine this extending out past an Avengers line up? People would be up in arms. :(

Sadly, the common man just isn't as interested or invested as we comic book nerds are in these characters and their world.

I agree. With so many characters in the Marvel universe, the movies can get just as convoluted if Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four were added. I mean, the X-Men movie universe is already pretty much convoluted with the controversy of X-Men: the Last Stand and X-Men: Origins Wolverine.

I'd like to see them get all 3 back, but FF is the only one I see happening, especially if the new one bombs or doesn't turn out to be a thing.

X-Men and Spidey bring in a good deal of money for their respective studios, so Disney would need to back up a truck of money to each and I doubt they would, even with that Avengers money coming in.

I don't even think they would give up the Fantastic Four. It may not be a money maker like the Avengers but it is still a hot license that other companies would kill to have. They could just allow other companies to shoulder the burden of production and still reap in a tidy profit.

I definitely agree that X-Men and Spider-Man would be difficult to get the rights to since they are just as popular as the Avengers, so Fox and Sony would definitely try to keep those franchises for the future.

Marvel should get everything back, 'cause the studios of Sony and FOX will surf on the popularity wave of the SuperHeroes owned by Marvel Studios (I.M., C.A. etc...).

So, I guess for the FF I must say "Yes" for Doc. Doom, is my favourite super vilain in the whole Marvel Universe (tied with Thanos). And also for one another detail, The Silver Surfer.

For Spidey, I must say that I enjoyed the reboot, eventhough there's some shits that don't make any sense. So it's a "Maybe".

And for X-Men, it'd confusing to put them in. But if they do a Avengers vs. X-men though it'd be a HUGE yes.

That's a really good point, but I do think it's worth mentioning that those movies you named as being good were at least as good as most of Marvel's movies, and it isn't as if all of Marvel's movies have been awesome either *cough-Ironman II-cough*.

They should get the FF now and try to reboot them because I feel like Reed should be apart of the MCU along with the rest of the FF. Spiderman and X-Men can wait because they're still making movies and they wouldn't play a large role in the MCU anyway, they just have popular characters people want in the film.

People forget that Silver Surfer is also owned by Fox......

I do wonder about that. I hope that if Marvel does get the rights back to X-Men, they will actually explain this a lot clearer than the comics. This is one issue that's always been bugging me about the X-Men franchise.

I always hear this and am a bit puzzled by it.

To me it's always been fairly obvious. True, I may have assumed it rather than having it stated in the comics, but I thought the implication was there.

Humans don't fear non-mutant superheroes because they got their abilities from some source. An accident, an invention, etc. They are single cases; rare (sort of).

Mutants are literally set up as humanities replacements. Eventually humans will be gone and only mutants will be around.

This is, of course, a flawed viewpoint since mutants ARE humans, but panic and irrational fear are all too common traits for humanity. So instead of seeing it as humans evolving, many see it as being replaced.

Just my take on it.

And yes, I hope Marvel does get the rights to Spidey and the others back eventually. The universe doesn't have to be convoluted. The X-Men can keep mostly separate from the Avengers with only references and the occasional cameo to show that they're in the same world. Same goes with Spidey and Daredevil. Keep their movies relatively self-contained and maybe have them make a small cameo in the next big Avengers movie. Imagine how cool it'd be to have a small scene of Spiderman getting civilians to safety during the New York battle in Avengers. The audience wouldn't need to know anything about what happened in the previous Spiderman movies, they'd just have to know that Spiderman exists, and I think that's covered.
