@masterkungfu: no, they should just have flashbacks to Krypton like Arrow has flashbacks to Lian Yu.

If you were to give the writers of Supergirl some ideas for the show, what would they be? Here of mine.

Introduce Superman

I say introduce Superman, but not immediately! There is no need. If anyone has read a decent number of Supergirl comics, they would know that her stories barely involve Superman, and that Supergirl can more than take care of herself without Superman's help. However, she does hail from the same planet and family as Superman (cousins), so it would make sense to introduce him. But maybe at the end of Season 1 or Season 2.

Introduce other young female characters

Introduce other young female heroes, no sense in letting the Teen Titans TV series hog them all. Here are a few good ones.

No Caption Provided

Batgirl: Batgirl and Supergirl, for some of the female comic book fans, this would be the true Dawn of Justice. We don't have to introduce Batman or Nightwing (Batman/Bruce Wayne is owned by WB, and Bruce Wayne is owned by Fox), it won't be all that necessary. As far as the viewer can be concerned. Barbra is the only vigilante defending Gotham and does a damn good job at it.

No Caption Provided

Miss Martian: It would make sense to make for Miss Martian and Supergirl's human personas to somehow meet, become friends, only to encounter some kind of threat that forces them to reveal their powers to each other. Then they can build an even more dynamic friendship since both of them are extraterrestrials on Earth who are making their best to fit in, while also using their powers to protect innocent people.

No Caption Provided

Mia Dearden Speedy: If due to Fox or WB (Batgirl might exist in the Snyderverse, and technically Barbra Gordon just doesn't exist quite yet in Gotham), then they can just do what Smallville did and use the next best thing, use an archer character. Technically Thea Queen's full name on Arrow is Thea "Mia" Dearden Queen. So they may or may not be able to use her, which is why I suggest Artemis Crock.

No Caption Provided

Wondergirl: These two teaming up and kicking ass, fighting either either Wondergirl or Supergirl villains. No further explanation required, it'll be awesome.

@purplecandy: I think they're aging Kara up for the series because the actress sure as hell doesn't look like a teenager. So that automatically changes the dynamic of the stories being told since she will be an adult.

I think there actually is a Teen Titans show being developed for some other network (TNT or some cable network) So I doubt you'll see any Titan members on this show.

As with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC shared universe on CW (Flash/Arrow), a straight-up team up show with Teen Titans, It is safe to say that most comic book fans (like myself) expectations supersede mere stand-alone stories. I mean sure I like them, but I also want to see my heroes working with other heroes. They sure as hell better make Supergirl interesting and not a kryptonian version of Gossip Girl, otherwise you can count me out.

@superguy1591: True. The Batman comics have always been dark and having criminals worse than just muggers, naturally we can expect that from the Gotham TV series. The DC live-action and animated films are more likely to show or entertain the idea of murder and death, will Marvel does it rarely. I watched Son of Batman and from Damian Wayne stabbing out Slade's eye along with Talia more than implying date raping Bruce Wayne, I would say that film should and could be aired on Adult Swim.

This is Superman we are talking about, the writers will always give him new powers.

And if Superman did lose a limb, I am sure some of Atlantis's magicians, Doctor Fate or Zatanna, someone (a good person) who has CADMUS-level intellect should be able to help him regain it.

@rdclip: Then it will most likely fail unless the writers actually make the stories comic accurate and don't just try throw Supergirl into the real world, with no other extraterrestrial, meta-human or superpowered threat. And something tells me since the protoganist is female, it will more than likely feature Kara having a love interest (Jimmy Olsen is supposed to be in the show, so maybe him) thus making it Twilight-esque.

But hey, I can imagine it turning into a female superhero team-up show. Since Supergirl has usually been Teen Titans status, they can show her teaming up with other female Titans Wonder-Girl, Batgirl, Mia Dearden, Argent. A good and dynamic team-up would actually be with Miss Martian, since both of them are extraterrestrials who struggle to fit in and find their place on Earth.

Sadly, I am pretty sure Supergirl will be stand-alone, but I will keep my hopes up. The show might do well stand-alone, but in case it gets boring (i.e. Smallville), the only thing that will retain my interest in watching it would be the portrayals of other DC characters.

Dawn of Justice will begin a new era for DC comics media. DC Studios has the rights to all it's characters, so we will not see any stand-alone films anymore. And with the Flash/Arrow crossover episodes, people will be highly unsatisfied with Supergirl if it has no other titular characters as even guest stars.

It's unlikely that after Dawn of Justice we will have any stand-alone DC Comic films.

If Dawn of Justice succeeds in revenue and rating then DC might finally surpass Marvel in popularity.
