Since when do licensed movies or TV shows actually make most of it's audience bother with the source material? For the time being there are always going to be people who'd rather watch the movie, tv show, or cartoon than read the book or comic it came from.

This even applies to niches like anime.

But that's even without considering how our culture as a whole has viewed the medium of comic books for almost a century now.

I've never understood how the two characters can make a couple. Why would a strict goody two shoes like Bruce have any interest in a jewel thief? Seriously, why would he?

I think most writers have Catwoman enjoy the thrill of the chase and all that mess, but that still doesn't explain how Batman could think anything of her.

I don't mind teaming up, I love team ups, but when these two are supposed to be more than occasional allies, I just roll my eyes.

That might explain what you were talking about. Certain writers would make her less anti hero and less thieving because they want to force the vague romance to make some kind of sense. Even if she has a thing for Bruce, I really doubt she would ever give up something she loves doing just for his sake.

I do distinctly remembering that at the beginning of Batman Inc, Grant Morrison has made it clear that she hasn't given up her thieving ways.

Ugh. I do not like this Harley at all. I think it's actually worse than the redesign in the video game.

And I don't particularly care for that interpretation of Jaime. I don't like it when some artists bulk up characters that I don't think should be built as much. It really makes them harder to distinguish when they all have the same body type, which is something I really hate seeing.

Naturally our superheroes are gonna be in tip top physical shape, but I think there should be a distinct difference between characters like Spider-Man as opposed to someone like say, Superman.  This should lend itself to silhouette based design. Sure, most characters are wearing skin tight spandex and are practically naked, but that should be more reason to differentiate them in ways that make silhouette logic come into play as much as it can, and body types is one of them.

All in all, thank goodness he didn't get a redesign.

Eric Canete? Coolio!

Supergirl and Superboy I don't mind, but they look more like Elseworlds characters than their canon versions.

I'm in the boat that thinks Superman should stay old school, and that redesigning in these days never works for him. It's just the fact that he INVENTED the modern superhero that makes me think he should stay old school and traditional. It's like trying to get your grandfather to listen to modern music or wear modern fashions. It's just so unnatural it repulses me.

Plus all of his redesigns from over the years have all been terrible. Remember the mullet? The shiny silver costume? 90'S SUPERBOY? Oh my god, I hated freakin' 90's Superboy.

So for those reasons, I don't like the idea of a modernized Superman, and I never liked Jim Lee. So that's just icing.
