My great Idea.

Today I was sitting down. Like I usually do, and reading some comics. Now this particular thinking/reading session I was thinking of some of my favorite animated series as a kid, Spider-Man the animated series (the 90's one) and Batman the Animated series (also, the 90's one) and suddenly I had an epiphany. An idea of sorts. What if Marvel or DC got all their best writers and artists and pooled their resources together to make an animated movie. Think of all the great ideas that would come up of all those great minds in a room. Well I think it'd be pretty cool.

Stellar Sophomore.... Blog.

As you can see from my title I'm not exactly running at full mental capacity today. It's just one of those days. A lazy day. I got up and decided to read some Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which was a great decision seeing how AMAZINGLY AWESOME that book is. Well if you like Sci-fi... which I do. Sci-fi or science-fiction is one of those things where people either love it, or they hate it. I personally love sci-fi because I find space so interesting, just how big it is and how small we are in comparison. It kinda makes me feel like I'm just a micro whatamajiiger in a computer. Doing my little tasks so the computer can run. Hey, here's a picture of space!

Well technically it was a galaxy. I just find space interesting. And you know what else I find interesting? The Walking Dead on AMC (see that transition? Man am I ever a good writer!) and a new episode comes on tonight. Sadly though, I wont be able to watch it tonight considering it doesn't come on until 12 where I live and I have school in the morning.

So thats what was on my mind today. Cheers for reading... If you did read it all. Here you go, have a picture of hobgoblin.

The Evolution of a blog.

Everything evolves. Humans, animals, technology. And apparently so to does my blog. This post marks the change of my blogtastic blog formula. No longer will my blog be solely focused on comics. I'm branching out. From now on the blog will contain whatever I want it to. Be it what I did that day, what movies I've watched or what I fell about well, anything. Now fret not, I will still talk about comics. Probably quite frequently. So without further ado let's kick this thing off.

The Sopranos.

Have you ever watched it? If you said (or thought cause you're on a computer so you're probably not talking to yourself while reading because that would be kind of weird) no you have to watch it immediately. It's so good that I can't even think of it as a TV show. It doesn't do the show justice. Every episode is like a mini movie that would win 10 Academy awards. It's freaking amazing. The camera work is fantastic, the cast and acting feel very organic, like everything is actually happening and your just standing by watching and the music is fantastic. Music is TV shows or movies is something that I think is tragically under used. Music is something that can really add to the experience. Man do I ever ramble in these things. So I'm gonna end this blog. Kudos if you actually read this far.

The Walking Dead (TV Show) 1st Episode Impressions.

Now, I know this is a bit late considering the 1st episode aired more than a week ago but hey. I was busy. And it gave me time to collect my thoughts. And wow. What a first episode. The acting was superb, the cinematography was great and the zombies or "walkers" looked really good. It may have taken a little while to get going but it was definitely an episode worth watching. One thing that particularly caught my attention was when Rick was riding into Atlanta on horse (nice nod to the comics) and there were all these cars on the left side backed up as far as the eye could see, leaving Atlanta. And the then on the right side, going into Atlanta, there was not one car. I just thought it was a nice touch. My only gripe with the series is that the zombies seemed to move a bit fast. Kirkman described them in the comics as very slow moving but they seemed a considerable amount quicker here. Also the sounds were a bit odd at times. Minor annoyances aside this was a fantastic first start to what I hope will be a great continuing series.

WHY INVINCIBLE IS AMAZING

I just discovered invincible. Its pretty much amazing. Now I know I'm a bit late to the party but quite frankly, who the hell cares? Cause Invincible is awesome. And here's a few reasons why.

  • IT'S FUNNY: It's genuinely funny. I can't stop myself. Every few issues I just laugh. And laugh. And laugh and laugh and laugh. Then I fall off my chair. And hit my head. And there's blood everywhere but I don't care. Because I'm still laughing. And laughing. And laughing and laughing. At Invincible. Because it's that funny. Sometimes it's the dialogue, but sometimes it's the art. The expressions of the characters.
  • IT'S LIGHTHEARTED: It's like Robert Kirkman took superman. Made him go back to high school and gave him the personality of Spider-Man. Invincible is serious but it doesn't take itself too serious and that's half the appeal of it. There's always some crazy alien invasion or something to keep Invincible busy while going through the pains of high school (girls, grades, etc.). It's great.
  • IT'S SERIOUS TOO: While Invincible is lighthearted that doesn't mean it's all silly all the time. Kirkman doesn't shy away from major plot twists and such. (Omni-Man being evil) that make you want to keep reading.

What was the point of all this rambling? Basically to tell you how fantastically awesome and epically funny Invincible is. It's like a breath of fresh air after sitting in the same room on the same couch reading years and years of traditional comic stories. If you haven't started reading Invincible yet scold yourself repeatedly and get yourself as fast as you can to your local comic book store. And if you can't get there for whatever terrible reason just cry until you can.

Screw the heroes. It's all about the villains!

Why do you read comics? To waste time? For the story of good versus evil? To see the hero come through in the end? Wrong. You read the comic for the villain. Comics are nothing without the villains. Would you buy  Superman if month after month it was just him flying around metropolis saving innocents from car crashes and catching muggers? No. It would get boring; fast. So the villains are important and under-appreciated. And it's sad. They have feelings too. Now. Think about the most popular and iconic super-heroes. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and the X-Men are a few that most likely popped into your head. Well, I'm about to let you in on a little secret I discovered a little while ago. Wanna know why they're popular? Their villains. They're sweet! Batman has the Joker, and Mr. Freeze and the Riddler and Catwoman the list goes on and on and on and on. Spider-Man has all the goblins; Venom, Carnage, Doc Ock, Mysterio, etc etc. Superman has Lex Luthor and Braniac and the X-Men has Magneto and Galactus. All these heroes provide a formidable challenge for your little heroes to pit themselves against. And they're interesting and there's an endless amount of stories to tell about these villains 'cause let's face it. There's only so many stories you can tell about the heroes. Why do you think people say "everyone has a different Batman story to tell" ? Because he has so many god damn villains!!!! So the next time you go to buy that pristine copy of Amazing Spider-Man or Uncanny X-Men, take a moment and thank the many villains, because, it wouldn't be possible without them.

Agree? Don't? Think there's some other character with a plethora of villains I didn't mention? COMMENT

5 things that piss me off in Comics.

#1: Alternate Universes. They're confusing okay? I don't need a Earth 39-B8 just give me my one earth with its set of superheroes.

#2: Convoluted story lines where you have to read 100 issues just to know what the f!@# is going on. (I'm looking at you DC) What? No Superman killed Luthor in issue 64943 but then he came back to life in 65473 with a serum that superman shit out his ass in 65078 but hid in his fortress of solitude only to be found by Lex's cousin Randy who was introduced way back in issue 3 and had a vendetta against superman cause he saved his boss who he hated from committing suicide in issue 6456. And he knows where Supermans fortress of solitude is because he read it in Supermans journal in issue 7888. Whew.

#3: Changing artists in the middle of a story arc. It just bothers the hell outta me.

#4: Milking a story arc because its popular. I think all that needs to be said here is the clone saga. Yeah.

And finally...

NUMBER 5: Throwing in a terrible little story at the end of a comic so they can bump the price up to 3.99. ...................Greedy Bastards.

And there you have it. The 5 things that piss me off in comics. Agree? Hate my guts because you think I have no clue what I'm talking about and that I should go back to kindergarden? COMMENT

What's with the series that no one cares about?

Okay. So I'm a comics fan. (DUHHH)  and today I decided to run to my comics store and pick up a few issues. When i was browsing the shelves though, I couldn't help but notice all the series which just seem plain pointless. 5 different batman comics? Really? 3 different spider-mans? I lost count of how many Avengers and X-Men series there are. So my question is plainly; Who cares? Will the average joe buy each of those batman comics? At 3 and 4 dollars a pop, probably not. Now I know there are those of you out there who buy all the Avengers, all the X-Men, all the Batman and all the Spider-Man, but... is it really worth it? wouldn't you much rather DC or Marvel use the resources made to make those comics and make the 1 comic better? With more pages? I know I would. Then you could use the money you'd save to add more variety into your comic purchases. If you only bought the 6 batman for instance you could broaden your horizons, read other great series like the Walking Dead, or Invincible, or Fables. Hey you might argue "I don't like anything else. I like only batman. Thats it. Only him. I Love him. He's my hero." Well more power too ya, but why don't buy some Batman graphic novels that you haven't read yet (I highly doubt you've read EVERY single one of them). Or back back back issues of Batman to see where your great hero came from. Maybe I'm just an idiot and have no clue what I'm talking about. But hey, thats my two cents and I'm entitled to them.

Sandman = Badass.

Sandman is badass. I don't care what you say he just is and he should be considered one of the most powerful villains around (not including magic or aliens). You see a little while ago me and my friends started getting into discussions about if two hero's went head to head who would win. Or if two villains went head to head. I chose sandman. Why? you may ask. Because I think he's INVINCIBLE. Someone shoots a bullet at him? No problem. He turns into sand and the bullet whizzes right through him. Hand to hand combat? He turns into sand. The punch misses. Turns his hand into A MASSIVE HAMMER. Crushers the poor fool who wasted his precious time. Sandman should clean house. On his mantle there should just be heads of the countless heroes; Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, the list goes on. The only thing I can think of that would stop Sandman would be a tsunami, and thats only because he's weak against water. And yes I know there's probably thousands of heroes/villains that you say could beat Sandman but let me ask you this. How many of them are alien? or have magic powers? or are a Mutant? If you can name one who was just a regular joe turned superhero that can beat sandman let me know. COMMENT FOOL.

Finally, I would just like to say that this is just my own opinion and I felt like putting it out there so there's no need to feel like I insulted you or anything I'm just speaking... well actually writing i guess... my mind.

My Walking Dead Impressions (Comics)

Howdy Y'all,

Here are my Walking dead impressions, a great series, so lets get right into it.

WARNING! SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ UP TO ISSUE 58 OF THE WALKING DEAD CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Now that thats out of the way I would like to say that the walking dead is fantastic but I do have a few problems with it. About halfway through how much I've read so far it seemed to get a little crazy for the wrong reasons. It seems like every issue someone would die or get bit and while I'm not opposed to characters dying or getting bit by the zombies it was too frequent to have any real emotional value. I was more suprised if someone DIDN'T die in an issue than if they did. Also a few things pop out to me such as Tyreese's "suicide" where he just ran into the horde of zombies seemingly dying only to be alive and well when Rick went into the gym. What's up with that huh? But after the whole Governer story arc the walking dead has seemed to hit its stride again. You see, the reason why I liked the series so much at the beginning was because it was less of a crazy zombie action comic and more a tale of these characters trying to survive and come to terms with what has happened. How it was such a struggle to find food and shelter, etc, etc. But now after the Governer story arc and half of their group getting killed off (Lori and baby Judith especially was heart wrenching) and Rick and Carl just had to restart their lives and it's as if the series has restarted in a way too.

So thats my impressions agree? Disagree? COMMENT FOOL.
