The Avengers - My Ideal Roster

These are the characters I like the most as Avengers and would have on my team/squad of Avengers.

Awesome roster. Reminds me of the classic Avengers era. I don't see why Thunderstrike is on the list though, since you already have Thor :P

@TheGoldenOne: Thanks. I have Thunderstrike on my Avengers line-up because I like the character.

@PowerHerc: Oh. Okay :)

I like your team...as usual.lol

@OmegaTheDestroyer: Thanks. My picks might not be the most typical, I left some of the more recent non-classic Avengers like Spider-man and Wolverine, so I'm glad you liked my line-up.

That's a huge roster lol, but spectacular nonetheless.

@Deranged Midget: Yeah, it's a huge roster (I barely whittled it down to the size it is, though! Lol !).

@PowerHerc: Regardless, it's good to see that you have many names in there that deserve more spotlight.

Blue Marvel would be a nice addition to the Main stream team.

Oh my! so many powerhouses! good thing im on the good side :P

Posted by PowerHerc

@LordMaverick: The most powerful team in the MU has to have powerhouses, right? ;)

yeah, NO evil exists in this teams universe ha

Great Roster, Love how you described Tony

@vickyIM: Thanks. Steve might be the mortar that holds the Avengers together but Iron Man is the foundation upon which they were built.

Thank you!

Love this roster. It's like a perfect mixture of modern and classic Avengers!

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek:

Thank you very much.

I think a lot of people don't like my roster because I don't have Spider-Man or Wolverine on it, but I've never felt they work very well as Avengers.

Posted by YourNeighborhoodComicGeek

Me either. Spider-Man is okay, but miles better solo, and Wolverine is already in X-Men and X-Factor.

Posted by PowerHerc

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek:

Yes, Spidey is always better as a solo character and Wolverine cannot possibly be on three teams at once. That's ridiculous.

Posted by YourNeighborhoodComicGeek

Agreed completely, and if it somehow was possible for Logan to do all that, it would just be all over the place and would just make his character turn into : quantity > quality.

Posted by PowerHerc

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek:

Yes. Not that that's ever stopped Marvel from milking a character's popularity,

Good team, if I were to assemble a traditional seven member team It would have to start with the natural leader Captain America, the total team would be

Captain America | Iron Man | Thor | The Hulk | Captain Marvel | Black Panther | Dr. Strange

Would be supported by the following

Black Widow | Hawk Eye | Falcon | Spider Woman | Vision | Scarlet Witch | Ares

What do you guys think. Not sure if I an in love with Carol's new uniform, but they might make some adjustments, one never knows.

@kirksland: Thanks for checking out this list.

I like your core group, too, but I've never been a fan of the Hulk as an Avengers and though I still think of Dr. Strange as a Defender, I like him as an Avenger.

I absolutely love Carol but I'm not a fan of her latest uniform, either. I'd like to see her back in the black one-piece with the arm gloves and thigh-high boots.

Thanks, made some changes to the second group, but the core group has everything and would be prepared for any challenge.

What are your thoughts on Black Panther especially his new powers as king of the dead. I do understand why Carol became Captain Marvel, just wish they would spruce it up a bit. Too masculine and un-original.

@kirksland: I'm not really up on BP's new position and powers as 'king of the dead' but the title doesn't seem to suit him nor does what it implies.

I get the whole "Carrying on Mar-Vell's legacy" thing but I don't like the name change or the new costume. It is definitely too masculine.

It was more to do with keeping the trademark for the name Captain Marvel, but just it still doesn't make it better.

Reasons behind my preferred 7

The top three are obvious, Hulk brings the raw power and was a founding member. Ms/Captain Marvel brings a powerful female to the mix, her leadership ability to the mix and can more than hold her own. Black Panther has the fighting ability, supreme intelligence and the Wakandan technology and resourses. Dr Strange brings in the variety of the mystic arts and for me just edges out Scarlet Witch, though either would have been wonderful. Thinking about it, either would be great.

Captain America | Iron Man | Thor | Hulk | Captain Marvel | Black Panther | Scarlet Witch Amazing powerful and resourseful lineup.
