I love Marvel but I don't really understand the aftermath of Avengers vs. X-Men. Cyclops used his Phoenix powers to "make" new mutants, but are these new characters actually mutants or humans that have been given super powers? Even if they have the "X" gene, they got it from the Phoenix Force and not through evolution or heredity. The Marvel Now X-books have been fantastic so I guess its a moot point anyway, just wanted to hear your thoughts.
id say the biggest difference is personal preference. one being more realistic than the other depends completely on who you ask. Marvel has a teenager who got bitten by a radioactive spider who got powers instead of cancer and DC has a highly trained, highly intelligent vigilante who's creativity is limited to bat-mobile, bat-cave, bat-plane, bat-boat, ect. The whole "realistic" arguemnt is just that particular fan's justification for liking one company more than the other. If its that big a deal just start reading Archie comics and move on.
Thanks for the Captain America recommendations, Captain America #300 Is now one of my favorite single issues ever.
Which hero/villain do you feel has the most underrated power set? A character you feel has been the victim of poor writing or suffers from obscurity that you feel could be one of the greats. (I really love Speedball)
Which hero/villain do you feel has the most overrated power set? A character you have never been sold on or feel a writer's obvious love for a character was really obnoxious. (I don't buy Deathstroke in Idenitiy Crisis for a second)
